What are the best candyass back exercises...?

I'm a purest when it comes to back exercises. There are:

deads
weighted pullups and
bentover barbell rows

To me... all other back exercises are pretty much secondary.

But... I'm going to stop living in denial about this. I've seriously strained something... and it is keeping me from doing my routine.

I can do the deads no problem, but when it comes to weighted dips... whatever I've strained is really holding me back. When I try to do reps... it feels like my biceps are ripping off my arm... and today... three reps into a set it felt like my right shoulder was ripping out of socket. I went to do bentover rows after this and couldn't even move my warm up weight.

Now, I'm sitting at my computer. My girlfriend is in the kitchen getting me some advil and asprin. My right shoulder is killing me.

It's going to be doing candyass back exercises for a few weeks.

Can anyone suggest which ones would be the least amount of stress?

I figure I will still be able to start with deads... and will need two easy followup exercises.

I would see an active release therapist. You need to fix the problem, not keep working the muscles involved.

bump. something's not right

why dont you just take a week off?

maybe you need a week or two of rest. ice it down, if the pain persists a doc. those are the most productive back excercises without a doubt, but the cumulative and repetitive stress they put on joints and tendons may require some time off. actually i have to work back tonight, some rows and pull ups!!! good luck.

Rest isn't an option for me. I used to take time out for injuries. Now I just keep working through... and lighten the load till I can handle my old workouts.

I recover faster if I work it.

well, in that case i would try hammer

the pull down and row machines. maybe some light dumbell rows as well. just out of curiousity, how often per week did you do the weighted pull ups? (im not going to ask how much weight you were using, i know thats on a need to know basis). im trying to improve my weighted pull ups, committed to always use resistance or not do them at all.

Cable rows might not stress the shoulder.

Also i remember once straining my right shoulder in a mosh pit at ozzfest. i could not do allot of exercises for a while but pushups made it feel better. Maybe you can find some movement that will help. Also try to stretch it.

I hit back once a week. I was doing them as my 5 x 5. I have a goal of trying for 200lbs weighted... and I think this got me to push my sets up too high. (200lbs was the number Art Zeller could do.)

200 pds? wow

i remember reading about marvin eder doing those too. he must have been a specimen!! best i have ever done was few sets of six with 60 pds, dead hand. now i can barely get two reps.
