Weighted vest

I was wondering if anyone has used a heavy weighted vest or equivalent multiple hours of the day and how this worked on strength/size.

Reason I'm wondering is because I work construction and currently carry about 40 - 60 lbs. on me 8 hours 5 days a week, but I was thinking about upping it. I figure if it helps I could essentially work and workout at the same time. If I was to put my tool backpack and everything I could need on I would have about 140 lbs. on my back and waist.

no but that would be an excellent way of gaining conditioning although it would wear you out. if you are a frequent gym goer it could be counter productive, otherwise its a great idea IMO.

I do carry 90 pounds on leg days around the gym, i feel this is a great way to end my leg days and strengthen the core.

Used to work out, but don't really do that much anymore. Should work out my arms too since I'm constantly climbing ladders 40+ feet all day. Took awhile to get used to the 40 - 60 lbs, but now it's nothing. I read somewhere about Olympic sprinters wearing 20lb vests all day to increase their speed quite substantially.

that's an 8 hour workout sounds like overtraining to me unless your in the army and have no choice but to lug heavy backpacks around trust me it's no fun and would probably make you alot less productive at work

I figure if I do it slowly it won't make me less productive, plus there is less walking when you have all your tools on you. My diet is amazing which helps, so I'll try and see what happens. Maybe my squat and dead lift will go up. Thanks for the input!

i really dont think your dead or squat will go up... and if it makes less walking, then you are just defeating the purpose...

yo stevesmi... you need to up it bro :) i carry around 2 45's in each hand at the end of my leg workouts

Pft I stack 10 on my head and walk around the gym like an african villager

Lol ... When I say less walking I don't actually mean I will be walking less, I mean I will be walking less to finish a task, and then on to another. I know my squat and deads will go up because just doing construction for 6 months increase my squat by 100 and my deads by 200, but I don't know if I will see an improvement higher than that; not that I go to the gym now anyways. I did it today with about 70 - 80 lbs. and I was spent by the end of the day.
