1) 1st off its an editorial.

2) it's clear the editorial staff of the WP doesnt read its own news pages - they consistently display a convienient ignorace of their own reporting in trying to make a skewed point.

Who gives a fuck about Joe Wilson. He's the chosen "villain" in the us vs them rove strategy, and you play right along to the talking points. He's an irrelevancy. He's a distraction. A diversion.

The issue is Plame. The issue is cheney/rove/libby who who did our country a disservice by furthering/causing damage to a CIA agent and a CIA front company in order to further their political agenda.

Also, as per previous threads links, there were TWO tracks to the disclosure. armitage and libby/rove - libby rove occured PRIOR to novaks publishing armitages inadvertant outing.

Fitzgerald has reported, when Mr. Wilson charged that intelligence about Iraq had been twisted to make a case for war, Mr. Libby and Mr. Cheney reacted by inquiring about Ms. Plame's role in recommending Mr. Wilson for a CIA-sponsored trip to Niger, where he investigated reports that Iraq had sought to purchase uranium. Mr. Libby then allegedly disclosed Ms. Plame's identity to journalists and lied to a grand jury when he said he had learned of her identity from one of those reporters. Mr. Libby and his boss, Mr. Cheney, were trying to discredit Mr. Wilson; if Mr. Fitzgerald's account is correct, they were careless about handling information that was classified.

1) Even the left leaning Washington Post acknowledges that Wilson is and was full of shit.

2) The conspiracy bullshit was also a lie concocted to obfuscate the original bullshit as told by Wilson.

3)The person ultimately responsible for the "outing" of his wife was Joe Wilson. He made up the story. he falsely inferred Cheney sent him. And as everyone but you seems ready to acknowledge he intentionally lied about his findings to suit his anti war anti Bush agenda.

No crime had ever been committed. Where are the calls to convict Armitage? There was no crime because she was not a covert agent. The same reason her status is repeatedly and deceivingly listed as classified. Everyone in the freaking government has classified status. Doesn't make saying their identity illegal.

The two most disturbing things in this whole bullshit conspiracy are

1) The prosecutor new from the beginning that Armitage was responsible, yet he carried this bullshit on for years without a mention of it, while destroying peeps lives.

2)It now seems like a great many of the press knew alll along. And they went along with the bullshit for no greater discernable purpose than harming Bush and discrediting the war effort.

And to answer your statement...To correct lies told by Wilson not only about what he found, but with respect to who sent him, by telling the truth, is not a conspiracy.

Accepting for the moment arguendo that Wilson "lied" (NOT!), by saying that it's Wilsons fault that she was outed because of his lie, is tantamount to saying it was acceptable collateral damage to out a CIA agent, out her front company, endanger all the agents and contacts they ever worked with, in order to respond to a political situation.
