Wanna Know what your paying Shrubs White House Staff?

i dont know what to make of his university degrees. I have a handful of friends a couple ex gfs in ivey league schools down in the US, and the difference in their presentation and eloquence and that of Bush's (from what the media has shown me) is just so many levels apart. Everyone slips up once in a while, but the natural intelligence you need to make it into schools like Harvard and Yale usually dictates people who make very few simple spoken errors due to actually understanding what it is they're talking about

its a tough call, but hey, crazier things have happened.

I really doubt your friends have had to speak before a worldwide audience...if they did they may make a few mistakes, unlike when they give speeches in Speech 101...

That IS a good point.

Being President is probably a harder job than sorting the mail.

I have frequently achieved Superman status when competing against normal co-workers.

Being self-employed is a whole different ball of wax. I make mistakes all too frequently.

General point.

Many of these people are top quality individuals who could earn substantially more in the public sector. The job is also all consuming, you do little else for the time you serve the President. On the plus side for them is that a stint in the White House increases future earnings potential.

Max: Bush earned degrees from Harvard and Yale. Where did you attend?

Harvard? Are you sure about that? Must have been a masters, 'cause I know he did his undergrad at Yale, the same place his daddy went to. Thats the only reason he got in, is because his dad was such a 'Van Wilder' popular, and totally loved kid on campus. Plus he gots da bomb hook ups.

funny you mention it, but one exgf is literally the highest ranked female debater in the world(3rd place overall).
granted in the final rounds she only speaks in front of 500+ ppl, nothing like 10 million ppl on TV, but still, that shit ain't speech 101

how come other presidents or TV personalities don't screw up as much as he does? I don't remember Clinton making an ass of himself everytime he opened his mouth, nor do i see Powell or Rice even these days.
I'd be scared to see what kind of speech that guy could write by himself

Please watch a Ronald Regan speech...Clinton is a world-renouned orator, Bush is not, fairly simple...does this take away from his abillity to lead? btw, Al Gore is not known for giving good speeches...

i never once brought his leadership abilities into question, and i believe he is very charismatic. All i said is he doesnt strike me as the ivey league type, which is shown through poor spoken skills. Gore and Reagan weren't the best orators either, Gore isn't bad, he just has as much charisma as road kill, and I really don't know enough about Reagan to give worthy opinion

You figure Bush is leading us?

I think he may be in the top 4 club up there.

Cheney

Rove

Rumsfeld

Bush

Bush scored in the bottom 25% when taking the entrance exams for Air National Guard.

What entrance exams? He completed pilot training, which is math/science intense and not for dummies.

Bush is a very intelligent man with sharp instincts. He is not an accomplished orator, and not quick on his feet.

JA, he may not be "accomplished" in the traditional sense, but when he speaks, people listen. He seems stiff for the scipted prime time press conferences, not his best forum.

He was awesome in front of the Urban League crowd yesterday, you should have seen it. He was like a Baptist preaching trying to convert the masses.

A lot was made of Bush's weakness in this area vs Gore, right before he took Gore in 3 out of 3 debates in 2000.
