Also, what are your feelings on Bush's and FEMA's response time. Any thoughts on why up to 1/3 of the Police force would leave as well ?

yea whites looted, ofcourse they did. and im sure they looted unneccesary items. whether its the fact that NO is made of mostly blacks or if the news media chose to focus only on blacks, from what the country see's on tv a large percentage if not all of the unnecesary looting was being done by blacks.

if its for food, water, clothing and shit like that its not looting. period.

the response time was slow by any agency if you ask me. why? i dont know. everyone is pointing fingers right now and it seems conflicting on who is exactly to blame. i do feel that the mayor and govoner should be blamed first. then the fed govt.

the US military should have been put in charge the very first day. period.

the police left because they too have families to take care of, they were being shot at and outmanned and outgunned, they left because shit like this can drive a person insane. theyve already had several suicides now by police officers.

you seem to have exempt the Police from not so favorable actions....but the same has not been extended to Black citizens. Why is it ok for the police to go insance and not the people of color. Do the Blacks not have families to care for too ?

Maybe they should have followed the person or persons that "looted" the TV. Just so we can get a better understanding on how the story plays out. Not l ike they had any power....maybe, just maybe it can be used to barter or trade later. But something like this is never considered..especially even after ATMs do not work and one can not use a credit card for at least 100 miles away according to the news.

Those people are not just dealing with hunger and dehyradration....but the fact that people are actually dying in front of them as a result of being ignored. This is 3rd World stuff and not something they are prepared for. I live in NY. After 9/11 we have things are not the same. It bothers me to see military personnel walking in the trains with dogs and assault rifles. Not the best way to start a day nor something i would think i would see.

I have lived in poor communities (Philadelphia, Palo Alto, St Louis, Barbados) ...and I will tell you the mindset is not like that in other communities. If i had to compare...i would say it was as if they were in jail. I sensed a feeling of being held captive, like not being able to go anywhere so they will make t he best of their envirnoment. In many cases...all they knew where the fe block radius from their homes.

It's sad that it took possibly thousands to die for someone to finally pay attention to the conditions in this area.

it saddens me further to read some of the threads as if these people are subhuman or even refugees. No one can say what drives people to do what they do. I think that is the main problem. Everyone is looking to put a label on something rather than treating it as a unique issue.
