Vector Cereal

I have been eating Kellogg's Vector cereal in the morning and it claims to be an excellent source of complex carbs and protein 55g carbs 13g protein per bowl with only 2 or 3g fat. And it tastes really good as well, anyone else try this yet? I havn't heard much about it elsewhere, wondering if it really is as good as it claims.

Cereal is poison

IMHO.

Unless you are an endurance athlete, or are trying to put on size at all costs, I would stick with a more natural (read oatmeal) breakfast.

Dude it's high in oats, ingredient list is as follows:

Rice, whole wheat, glucose-fructose, soy protein, rolled oats, soy protein concentrate, vegetable oil...

For a 1 1/4 cup serving with 1 cup of milk it contains:

275 cal
13g protein
3.2g fat (0.7 saturates)
53g carbs
20g sugar
30g starch (complex carbs)
2.7 g dietary fibre
470mg sodium
480mg potassium

Sounds good no? ;)

NO good- IMO

glucose the third most abundant ingredient, soy protein the 4th.

20 grams of sugar per serving- This sounds like a great cereal if you want diabetes :-) (jk)

LIke I said earlier, If you are trying to gain size or are an endurance athlete- it looks pretty good. However for health and low body fat - this should be last on your list.

Thanks for the advise man. Anyone else with another opinion? I am looking to bulk up but I still want to stay lean. I am getting lots of protein in other meals so the high carbs for breakfast should be good to get my metabolism going in the morning should it not? plus give me an added boost of energy in the morning because I do my workouts early afternoon?

nugg thats funny!!! i mean the thing about pumping iron!! i remember at the end of the movie when everyone is having cake and Arnold is smoking a joint or something and says:" Hey everybady it's louies birsday, happy birsday to you, happy birsday to you, happy birsday dear louie" I'm still laughing...! you are a funny bastard!!

Yeah, the 20 g sugars is what kills the product. I used to eat Smart Start, teh soy protein version. It tasted great and had 10 g protein, but also 14 g sugars. I dropped it in favor of Grape Nuts. It has 5 g sugar and 6 g protein, and it goes great with 1/2 cup cottage cheese, so it helped me replace a cup of milk with cottage cheese. Other than that, I'd say Fiber One is a good choice, although the taste is horrendous
