Possibly crazy but I don't think I've heard anyone talk about it before, but how would just varying the amount of calories you consume on a daily basis work?
I'm thinking the following program:
With a training schedule of 4 days a week: M T Th Sat
Where training is defined as lifting heavy and doing 12 mins of HIIT
On these days I would consume ~maintenance (for me seems to be about 2400 calories) with macro's that look like:
50% protein 30% fat 20% carbs (complex) where carb meals are only consumed pre and post workout
Then the other 3 days "off days"
(Where I do 25 - 35 mins of Steady state cardio on an elliptical)
I would drop my calories by about 20% to 1900-2000 and varying the macro's slightly to put me in ketosis => 60% protein 30% fat 10% carbs
All the while making sure water consumption is high.
Would this varying calories put you in the so-called "starvation mode" where your metabolism gives you the finger or is this conceivable as a good plan?
