unflexed muscle

hi, is there any type of training that will improve what your muscles look like unflexed? i know that genetics determines the shape of a muscle, its just that my muscles dont look all tht great when im standing natural.soemtimes i wonder if someone could tell i wrk out or not. when i flex i look great...the way i should look after over a years worth of heavy training. anyways if someoen could give me some advice on this i would appreciate it. thanks

oh and my current routine revolves around compund movements(heavy) supplimented with few isolation movements. each muscle group is worked once a week

hmm add mass eh? lol well i currently doin that (trying) .so i guess il just keep doin what im doin .thanks guys

oh and i heard that drinkin alot of whater can make your muscles "fuller" looking ..is there any truth in that?

to add mass you need to eat! if you have already a bulking diet you can post to get comments on it... water avoid catabolic state of muscles, doesn't gets you pump muscles or bloat them.

What you need to do is increase the density of your muscles. In order to get that thick, dense look, you really need to focus on your compound movements and alot of bodyweight resistance movements. Have a look at the physiques of Franco Columbu, Dave Draper, Ken Waller etc. All these guys and those of their vintage didn't have the fancy machines and 'isolation' bullshit which pervades this sport these days. They had incredibly thick and dense musculature which can only be arrived at through basic, compound lifts.

so should i eliminate isolation movements from my routine and focus entirely on bench, b/o rows, squats , pull ups etc?

Yes, stick with basic compound movements. After you add mass, you can use a few isolation exercises to specifically target a muscle group. Just make sure that Squats, Deadlifts, Bench Presses, Rows, and Over-head Presses are part of your current routine. Eat a lot of food and get rest. You will do just fine.

I thought so. Why aren't you doing that at present. I mean until you're entirely satisfied with the amount of muscle you have, why would you ever drop your reliance on basic compound movements as the core of your workout.

In short yes, you should be focussing on the exercises you mentioned plus dips, militaries etc.

Too many in this sport get sidetracked with all the bullshit that goes along with it. Don't let it happen to you by sticking to compound mass builders.

Good luck

thanks for the replies. and to vinylgroover as i mentiond i was doin compound movements as the bulk of my routine but i was also doin some isolation movements with them, thank u for your advice it is appreciated.
