UFC: Junior Dos Santos vs Frank Mir

Okay guys, the few guys who actually view and post in this forum lol

Who do you have this weekend?

We all know Junior has better standup, but his stand up game doesn't include kicks and we know if Mir takes him down you can probably so good bye to an arm.

For me its a toss up, haven't really seen Junior in any real trouble and he has destroyed some people and quickly. And I don't know if Frank has the chin to handle Junior, but there is a lil guy inside me that thinks Frank might actually have a chance.

What do you guys think?
 
He's got a chance. Slower hands think santos will probably knock him out unless mir can get to ground

Thats what I was thinking, never seen Mir this good since before his accident.

Eithor way i dont think it will go 5 rounds. No way!
 
Sorry guys Dos Santos all the way!!! Mir looked terrible in that fight with Big Nog, face down in a prone position until Nog inexplicably grabs him. If you rewatch that fight the ref was about to call the fight...2, 3 strikes more and its done.

I have never been impressed with Mir, but it is a fight so you never know how it might go. Either way I really like Junior, mellow personality and he finishes fights!!! I wil be watching , hopefuly some good fights.

I would have really, really like to see Dos Santos vs Overeem.

you and me both brotha. I wan't to see that fight so bad. The only thing with Dos Santos is that he doesn't really cover up but when you are undefeated and can punch like him who needs to block.

Yeah maybe has that aura of invincibility going on right now. You remember when Rashad first started out..damn he just stood in the pocket throwin blows like he had nothing to lose. Until Machida knocked him out he looked fearless.

The thing with MMA is eventually you will find a style that clashes with yours or you will knocked out, or people adjsust to your style i.e. Machida. Maybe Anderson Silva is a bit of an anomaly...beside the fight with Chael he has looked difficult to beat.

I had not seen too much of Alistair but before the Lesnar fightr I watched old fights of his and thought...DAMN those knees in the clinch are brutal!!!! He had some good weapons to work with against Dos Santos, but speed kills. Thats what I thought would be the difference. But who knows??

The only reason Chael did that good against Silva was the fact that he was on roids and the fact that anderson had a broken/fractured rib. Chael was able to neutralize his jiu-jitsu with his wrestling ability. Keep in mind his wrestling looked like SHIT vs that bum Bisping. But like you said, you make one mistake and you could possibly be knocked the FUCK out or tap out like that loud mouth did.

I've been watching Alistair for a long time and once he moved to heavyweight he has been UNSTOPABLE! Now it just sucks that hes been busted and suspended.

He walked all over the guys in strikeforce and if Fedor had the balls to fight him a long time ago when he wanted to I think Overeem would have killed Fedor! His clinch and Silvas clinch game is just crazy!

I'd like to see a 3 round fight with a knockout or tap out but I don't think its going to even go that far...lol

Should be a sick fight!
 
He moved up to heavy weight cause he's on gear of course he's unstopable when your a 250 pound beast pumped full of roids

He moved up becuase he was getting his ass handed to him as a light weight, left the ring slumped over on his coaches and then left the dressing room on a strecher.

I hate saying it, most of these guys probably use something.
 
Yeah I'm not saying he's not a great fighter cause he Is very good and I like him but that's just a part of pro sports

All I ever ask for is a good fight...like when we watched Hendo & Shogun in the 5 round "holy shit" fight...but we all know the inevitable...if it stays standing (which Mir would be a complete idiot thinking he can stand toe to toe with Junior and take his shots) it will be Juniors fight and be ready for a knockout...if it hits the ground, Mir all the way! The problem with Mir at times is his ego takes over, if he comes in with a game plan and sticks to it, like grind out Junior up against the cage, wear him down, and Mir will.be able take him down at will, but on the other hand...Junior is defending the title...Mir wants it!

May the best man win!

Cain over Silva!

Yeah I never get how guys that have such incredible ground games, Mir, B.J:, and so many others let their ego keep them standing. I am pretty damn sure that Mir will stand and try to trade blows. If that is the case I dont think it will be a long fight.

In the end give me a good fight and I am happy too!

The Cain vs Big Foot looks interesting, I am not too familiar with Silva but he is a big boy. I hope Cain comes back strong mentally.

Nonetheless it should be a killer fight. Im going with JDS with the knockout. I do agree Mir is getting a little too cocky and I don't think he can take a punch from JDS considering the Nog almost knocked him out.

As far as big foot goes he was good against Fedor but then what the hell happened when he fought Cormier? Cormier schooled him.

If you haven't seen the fight go to youtube, the entire fight is there. You can see the first big punch that Cormier landed broke his hand and after that he looked at the clock and threw small leg kicks just to kill time and prevent the ref from lettting Silva get up and then he decided fuck it I'll just end it now. Complete domination!

Im taking JDS all the way. I dont know if Frank is hyping himself up, or he actually beleives thats shit. Plus I dont like him at this weight. He looked better when he was a bit lighter. I know he put on some bulk after the 1st Lesnar loss, but I thought he looked better in the octagan when he was lighter.

As for Cain and BigFoot....Silva is fucking huge!!!! I think as long as Cain has his mind together he should win. Like you said King look at the Cromier fight...Cain brings a very similar skill set. BUT one hit can change it all!!

Looking forward to watcbing tonight.
 
Going with junior,he mows my yard so if mir breaks his shit off then my grass will get high next week.

Want to talk about bone head maneuver...I remembered to record the prelims, but forgot to set the DVR to record the Pay Per View and had people over to watch the fight...so after we were done watching the prelims I switched over to watch the fight and realized that I forgot to record it and all we saw was JDS celebrating his victory with his corner team...and watched the highlights of the fights so we know who won...bone head MA!

No I have it, recorded the second viewing but by that time it was late and everyone was tired and ready for bed...so I will watch it later anyway...I'm a big dummy at times!

At least you have it recorded bro. ALthough it is always cooler to watch it when you dont know what happened. It was a pretty good card, setsup some interesting future matches.

He's fighting a guy that took care of Pat Berry and Pat HD Berry is a BIG BOY. It was an impressive take-down and hold. Very impressive.

Fuck was he unlucky getting cuy like that. The poor guy couldn't see shit the entire fight as soon as he got cut. I was surprised the doc allowed it to continue. Soon as the doc asked him if he could see you know he wasn't going to say no.

And Mir just looked fat and out of shape and Dos Santos came ready! What a class act the guy is, great fight

Bro, I told you that Struve has blown me away. You look at the guy and it is deceiving but he keeps surprising me.

And that was a brutal cut. I am not sure how the fight would have gone otherwise, but it definately changed in an instance. But then again in a fight you never know.

The ironinc thing about Mir looking out of shape....right below the weigh on photo on ESPN.com, there was an article of how Dan Hardy got Mir into shape...her is the quote

If Frank Mir wins the UFC heavyweight championship this weekend, there is a fair chance he will be straight on the phone to thank England's Dan Hardy, who has helped propel Mir's fitness levels to new heights.

I guess he wont be thanking him, hahaha.

Still good fights. I am not sure I am super excited to see Cain vs JDS, unless the 1st time was fluke.
 
lol......Dan Hardy didn't do shit for him. Maybe he was in a little better shape then he used to be but he didn't look anywhere near as good as Dos Santos.

I don't think Cain will have a chance agaist JDS. Sure he looked good against Silva but if it wasn't for that cut who knows how that fight would have turned out. I think the only guy that would make it an entertaining fight would be Overeem, if it wasn't for that damn drug testing BS...lol

Nonetheless it was a great card I think, a lot of my friends thought it sucked because of the one punch knockouts but what did you want? All the fights to go to decision? My friends are a little clueless to when it comes to what makes a good card.

I thought all in all it was a good decision to do a heavy weight card. It turned out pretty good, unlike UFC on FOX which is really not doing so great right now.
