tri exercises for someone with bad elbow

young guns

New member
i've had alot of pain in my elbow over the past 5-6 months. doc told me it was tendonitis or bursitis.

so i'm looking for what you guys think would be the best exercises to do.

close grip tends to hurt, but if i don't go too heavy i can do them.....how wide should my grip be on those? my hands are usually about 8-9 inches apart, is that too wide?

i can't even do dips without weight, so weighted dips isn't gonna work

incline skullcrushers works well as long as i keep my elbows in

other exercises i've been able to do:
pushdowns, db kickbacks, rope pushdowns, single arm reverse grip pushdowns

which of these or any others do you think would be most effective while not putting alot more stress on my elbow?

and if you have any suggestions on things i can do to help my elbow, i'd be glad to hear them

When I had tendonitis I found skull crushes to be the worst. I guess every person is different...

I would suggest doing what you can stop when it hurts. You just gotta go easy on your tri exercises for awhile and it goes away.

If I remember correctly I might have skipped tri's every other workout. THey will still get t good workout with chest/shoulders remember.

Also try reverse grip bench on smith machine. wide grip. they're great :D

I had tendonitis... BAD... adn I did all the same exercises. Pain is pain. It doesn't stop the world unless you let it.

I do all the same exercises when they hurt that I do when they don't hurt... and usually it makes things get better faster to work it.

well i haven't been skipping workouts or anything. i was just juggling around some exercises to try and see which were givin me a good workout without a lot of pain.

just looking for feedback from others.

thanks for the replies fellas.

What you can do is pick a light weight and rep out with it, going for "the burn." Lactic acid is a stimulus for connective tissue repair.

Do some bench dips until you build up strength in your tris then do some dips.

I have suffered from the same probs as you and find that the dips don't hurt.
