Tradmill or road

Is running the treadmill just as beneficial as running on the road or a track. My boxing coach says the treadmill is nowhere near as good.

What about in the cold weather and in the wind and rain, would running the treadmill be better than running in those condition?

I'd say running in the cold weather would be better for conditioning. You're forced to push harder in those harsher conditions. I believe it's because things contract in cold, in this case your lungs, so you don't get as much oxygen.

I'd say the fresh air from outside would be better anyway, and it's nicer to get various scenery rather than being exposed to the same shit over and over on a treadmill.

Just saying the things I feel would be pluses. Ask your coach why he thinks running on the road would be more beneficial, maybe there's other reasoning.

Of course I forget the most obvious shit. :o

Yes, varying inclines, speed, and terrain (if you decide to go across grass, asphalt, trails etc.)

All in all, I'd shoot for running on the road.

man I'd say treadmill all the way! You know exactly how far you've gone...and for how long...you can "force" yourself to push harder by simply NOT lowering the speed on the machine. You can have the good tunes without carrying something on your arm...plus...the treadmill is easier on your feet/knees/etc. Wish I had one
