Tofu

Anyone have a good Tofu Recipe.. gawd i hate the taste.. but I hear soo many good things.. :)

I'm vegetarian - I eat tons of it. I like the taste - the harder tofu is nicer, can't stand the rubbery stuff. Just add some sauce and veg. Good for reducing chances of heart attack - look at the Japs, they eat tons of the stuff, have the lowest incidence of heart attack related deaths and live longer than the rest of us.

If you can get the really soft stuff, I like to spead it, mixed with a spicy sauce , like salsa, on wholewheat bread - very tasty.

-tip, quite nice and extra nutritious if you coat it with egg before cooking it.

Also, try marinating it in some soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and chilli paste overnight, befroe cooking - very tasty.

also, quite nice to marrinate it in lemon juice, cooking it with turmeric and chilli.

The trick with vegetarian cooking, is that you have to use a lot of herbs/spices/flavourings to make the food taste good.

SO THE HARD TOFU IS THE WAY TO GO.. I find the taste-- tasteless.. but i feel like I have to change up my diet .. so I thought I would add tofu.. i will try marinating it...
good idea..
thank u

One other thing, have you tried quorn (microprotein, genetically engineered from mushrooms) -can get it in the UK, not sure about the U.S. - The quorn fillets have no carbs and practically no fat. They're something rediculous like 90+% protein- great for a latenight snack, and taste/texture is just like chicken. Some of the soya burgers have a low carb, high protein breakdown - like Linda Mcartneys Burgers, which are a combination of soy and egg white. From memory, I think they have about 98 cals each, and about 12g of protein!

I also eat soy cheese -- in the states its called Veggie .. I chop up the cheese add
jalepeno chopped peppers and you think your in heaven... LOL..
I am going to experiment with Tofu .. I think its a good source of protein and should be added to the diet..
