Good advice above. I usually eat about 1-1.5 hours pre-workout, then post-workout I have whey and dextrose/maltodextrin in water, then eat another meal about 30-45 minutes after that.

Just don't eat your dinner while in the gym, it's distracting to have to remove peas, rice and bits of tuna or whatever from the bench before lifting :)
