How do you know if you have what it takes to become a pro bodybuilder? The trial and error thing isnt appealing, not worth it to put on all that mass and then find out ur not gonna make it. Are there things you can look for to know if u would be good for it?

a statement like that speaks for itself.

there are tons of people struggling to go pro. drive should be the first thing you have. genetics and bodytype helps for the second.
a pro didnt get into this sport to actually go pro, they got into it because they love what they do. the majority of successful atheletes got in it for the love of the game, not the payoff. bodybuilding doesnt have much of a payoff monetarily anyways.

as for can you tell without muscle whether you will be able to put on enough to go pro....no.

I want to become a pro...not in bodybuilding...but still a professional athlete.

Meet the pros...talk to them...find out what they really do from day to day and how their lives work. Make sure that you really do know what you are getting into...and how many years you will have to put into it...

I think you need to be a fast gainer and have excellent tie ins and structure. Plenty of big guys around in gyms, but not many with shape and proportion.

If your the type that blows up after 2 years and takes overalls without any juice, then you can seriously consider going all the way.

You should also realize that you will have to take upwards of 2-3g of test, 600+mg deca, high androgens, gh, slin, etc...if you plan on being a pro bodybuilder...AND THEN JUST HOPE THAT YOU HAVE DECENT GENETICS...

I used to compete as a Teenager - did 3 shows, anyway I quit after a couple of years when I started working - you know, too tired to hit the gym after work :)

I still went to see some contests with friends. I saw Lee Priest compete as a teenager back then. He literally blew all the other teenagers and aduts away. He took the Mr Australia overall as a teenager. You could tell then he would go all the way. I'm sure he was clean back then as well.

You were joking when you said that he is clean...right?

He was back then, but not now :)

remeber at 5'4" you can fill out your frame much faster. He was big back then under lights, but if you stood next to him, he wasn't freaky at all. But now its different story off course ;)

The one thing you have to ask yourself is am i prepared to do the amount of drugs necessary to make it as a pro bodybuilder. You can put all the genetics, determination and other motivational crap aside and ask yourself that simple question, because that's what it boils down to.

One thing you need to make sure of, isthat you have a plan outside of bodybuilding, ie getting an education, getting some worthwhile work experience, basically setting yourself up for a life outside of bodybuilding, just in case you don't like it or don't make it.

With regard to Lee Priest Cool Col J, the guy hasn't been clean since he was 13. If you recall, he tested postive at the world champs in Malaysia as a teenager in 1991. I too saw Lee Priest as a teenager and there was nothing special in the way of genetics, he was simply prepared to do what it took (ie tons of drugs) in order to succeed.

Whatever you choose, good luck
