The legion of talapiaholics grows bigger by the day... wow.

It's on my list to get a giant package @ Costco tomorrow!! :p

I can't get past the fact that I used to keep a couple of them in my 125 gal aquarium years back, then I started seeing them popping up at supermarkets. So for me It's kinda like eating a pet.

But I will give it a try since I'm not to keen on "fishy" tasting fish.

LOL! Try not to name them before you eat 'em.

yes im gonna be buying a bunch tomorrow there cheap here. along with some veggies and chicken breast as im getting back on my diet so ill be posting sure enough to say how much i love them after all i am a fish lover

Last nite, I went to winn dixie to buy a few odds and ends for the week. I browsed the seafood section and they were having a 40% off sale on mahi-mahi, basa, tuna filets (th real tuna). Get this, here are the prices....... (all packages were cryo-frozen, and vacuum sealed).........

mahi-mahi - $2.39 per slab (nice big slabs i may add)
tuna - $2.39 per slab (nice, reddish-dark meat...yum)
basa - $4.00 (4 filets per bag)

lets just say i basically cleaned them out . Bought over $75.00 worth of fish that will last me a good while.

i was so stoked. And trust me, im skeptical about seafood. I only buy the freshest stuff, but this stuff looked fantastic and had great color and was vacuum sealed.

Have you guys ever seen a Talapia? Nasty fish! They are the ugly fish you see in the ponds at the golf course...
I read the article in the paper about the Grouper down here not actually being Grouper...really pisses me off, however, they did list the restaurants that buy their Grouper from some of the local fish markets so you know they know what they are getting...its the guys that get it frozen in boxes that are getting the asian stuff

As nasty as Talapia is, if you enjoy the way it tastes it is healthy, by all means eat up!

I'll stick with the snapper

Tilapia is Gold Fish and nothing more

perhaps the worst quality fish one can buy

its cheap for its life cycle is short and easy to raise in poor environments

I love Tilapia

Lots of bodybuilders eat it...I disagree with anyone who says it's low quality fish...it's NOTcheap

its ok. i prefer tuna (fresh not canned) over tilapia personally.
