Tilapia = Amazing

Well that explains it. I've gotten vietnam grouper when I lived in PA, and Florida grouper when I vacationed there in the past. I assumed the grouper in FL was fresh caught...at least thats what the restaurant had said.

So the stuff I got in PA was probably nile perch? Interesting...it was good nonetheless, but not quite like what I had in FL.
florida grouper when you cook it has pretty large flakes
and pretty juicy

Guys this is a tilapia thread not a "grouper" thread! HAHA j/k

Anyway, people need to discover fish is the point! Fish that don't come canned.

I've been doing the tilapia with a little bit of olive oil, oregano and garlic. I would love to add some lemon if I can ever remember to buy some from the market.

There was an expose on Tampa restaurants saying that 75% of grouper was fake. People using trigger and other local fishes and calling it grouper.

ain't a fish i have not seen or cooked
i used to toss the fish back onto the back of the truck when they broght me in something fake

Sounds good. Tilapia is on sale this week too...bonus. No doubt the Grouper is fake, they have to be so freaking big to be keepers. Guess its like the restaraunts that advertise cod up here in new england. Most of the time its not.

when u guys say with "olive oil" do u mean u pan fry it in olive oil? i love tilapia thats the only fish i will eat but always had it deep fried the southern way.

Yeah, like a tblsp. in the pan & lightly "fry" it......not breaded type frying, like pan saute.....
