This is why I love Apple

My phone is insured.

I might be wrong but I don't think you can insure a verizon iphone.

I have a Verizon iPhone and had it insured up until I shattered my screen. I sent it I to the company. They made me pay a 200 dollar deductible and then sent me a refurbished phone. Bullshit

Hey what EMR do u guys use?

Probably this one:

I love it when they print everything off, hand annotate it and then put it in the paper chart.

Lol we recently switched from GE's centricity to EPIC.

I remember back in the day... EPIC was practically a cult. They had an antiquated platform (MUMPS) and GE had just moved to the Oracle.

But that chick who runs EPIC was dynamite. She did a great job qualifying her customers and she did fantastic implementations. Long-term, she proved that a mediocre technology that's properly implemented will win over the latest-and-greatest shiny stuff.

It probably doesn't hurt that she's right there in Wisconsin with you.

And you were most likely using the old MedicaLogic system. Either that or IDX if you are hospital-based.

I don't think GE has rolled their IDX acquisition under the Centricity brand yet, have they?

In the hosp it was Icare and clinic was centricity.

Centricity is whatever came after logician.

Right. We actually rolled a bunch of products under that brand name.

Originally (before me) they bought a system that was used in one (yes, one) hospital in the entire world. It was basically a custom-written installation that GE mistakenly though was a salable product.

Then after that, we acquired a string of companies. MeciaLogic (Logician) was a great buy -- that was during my time there. We also bought Millbrook Medical Management (TX-based company) which was another good buy. We rolled the RIS and PACS system (which was a train wreck) into the Centricity brand as well as an operating room information system.

So truth be told, Centricity was a "dog's breakfast" of best-of-breed systems. I don't know how integrated they are now, but the upstream product manager (friend of mine) is one of the brightest, most pragmatic people I've every known.

We whatever version we had was pretty dated. Wouldn't talk to icare, had to sign copies of notes once they got into centricity that I had already signed in icare. Bad templates. Ours was an EMR but not doing much to speed up efficiency.
