Ok, I'm on a bulk right now but I know I need more calories a day. I'm shooting for 3500. That is a LOT for me! But i got to thinking: Could a person grow on nothing but weight gainer shakes?
I mean in reality, if someone drank 6x600 calorie shakes a day each with 50 g of protein, would he (or she) gain as much muscle as they would if getting a large part of those calories from whole foods?
Just curious as I think I'm going to have to make up a large portion of my extra cals with supplements.
My stats, btw, r 207 lbs. with about 25% bf. 5'10". 39 yo.

i'm not positive but i doubt it since you'd be lacking a lot of other nutrients, vitamins, minerals that you can only find in other foods besides shakes. I could be wrong but it doesn't seem very likely to me.

I used to have a powder/bar intensive diet. When I switched to whole, natural foods I started gaining again. I still get almost half my protein from powder, but before it was like 3/4.
