The sports corner

Deadline for NHL season is 11am tomorrow. Rumor is that the owners put their 'best' offer of a 42.5mil salary cap on the table, while the players tabled an offer with a 49mil cap. Something in the 45-46mil range should get both sides to bite....dammit.....what's a few mil? GET A DEAL DONE!!!!

i heard that on sports center last night, it does sound like they are getting closer now, at least both are talking salary cap now, one last chance this morning, lets hope both sides can swallow some pride and resolve this

I guess they were 12 mil apart at first, then 6.5 mil. So it looks like they are getting closer.

It's official, NHL is done for the year.

I sincerely hope you NHL fans stay the hell away when these idiots finally get around to playing again. Teach them a lesson.

The players were trully pathetic

Lance Armstrong said he is gonna race again in the Tour de France and try for win no.7.

I think he will have a hard time winning it again.

Who do you think will get Bledsoe? He'd be an upgrade for alot of teams. I think he'll end up with Parcells in Dallas.
Not sure how I feel about that. He is reliable though.

KillahBee said:
the only thing reliable about that guy is that a) he will be a statue during the game and b) he will throw AT LEAST 1 pick a game
yeah but testaverde is good for at least 3, it's all relative :)

Last time I enjoyed a tennis match was McEnroe/Lendl ;)

you don't like watching ANYONE? what about a scrappy guy like lleyton hewitt? at least he keeps the ball in play longer than 2 shots. I dunno. What do you all see as the problem? Racquets too powerful make the points too short?

OK, OK, they play great tennis

But they have no personality
Plain boring guys

I'm still in shock about there being no hockey. I can't believe that all I have to look forward to now is the World Championships. This sucks!

Remember this feeling next time you feel inclined to shell out $100 for a seat at the ACC.

I sure hope Brad Penny's arm is healthy this season. If it is, the Dodgers will have one of the strongest rotations in the NL, definately the best in the West. They say he's throwing at about 80% with no problems right now.

Mr. dB,

What's your pronostic for Melbourne ?

I haven't been following any of the pre-season gossip, dunno who's supposed to be hot and who's not for this year. I kind of like it that way, makes the first race more fun for me when it's a bit of a surprise. I'll let the Speed Channel boys get me up to speed, so the speak, with the pre-race show.

Of course there are really only two basic scenarios -- either Ferrari runs away from the field, or else Ferrari's new car isn't sorted out yet and is stuck mid-pack. The biggest question is will McLaren's slump continue, or will they be back in the game? Will Williams continue to improve, or will Williams and McLaren be playing catch-up to Renault and BAR?

My only prediction -- Alonso will be on the podium unless he DNFs.

adam scott won in a playoff, they are giving him 1st place money but they said it is not an official win since it was only 36 holes, throw this one out it wont count for anything

Yep. I had Adam Scott in our pool this week though. Chalk up a victory for me :)

Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010

= no other games in North America in 2012

who is going to win the match play championship bluepeter? that is if they even play it

I got four guys in my pool. Adam Scott, Stewart Cink, Darren Clarke and Tiger.

I'd have to pick the obvious one and go with Tiger though. 3 times in the finals, 2 wins and an overall record of 20-3 in this event. Plus, his game has finally started to come around again.

Blood, check out how shitty the team is playing with out him. How do you call that overrated? He just needs to learn how to make the players around him better, instead of just focusing on his own offense.

WORD! He needs to be more like Kareem was. Now he was a true sportsman, and he did make everyone around him better.

Williams is out of the competition for this year
Renault and McLaren will be strong
Ao will Ferrari but after the 2005 car is lauched
Toyota may be a surprising team

Yeah...it's almost time for the cowardly Dodgers to walk Barry Bonds every time he gets to the plate again. ;)

I can't wait, they both have their home openers against each other. I'm going to get tickets to the home opener and sit in the bleachers, the cheap seats. That's the best place to sit when the Dodgers play the Giants, there's murder, mayhem and Giant fan humiliation.

Toyota and BAR were last year's big surprises.

Toyota ?
With their budget it's a pity that they're so far from the podium

Even a Corolla would be faster on the track
