i find it mind boggling that something man made could contain temperatures a million times hotter than the sun. wonder what kinda stuff scientists have made/discovered that we don't know about.

It's not temperature as we know it. They are minuscule amounts of disassociated particles bumping into each other. Technically a plasma television is a few thousand degrees Celsius.

Interesting fact: I was born and grew up in Ennis, Texas, and I remember the Superconducting Super Collider. I also remember a lot of locals being pissed off when it was canceled, because a lot of high-end jobs were lost.
