The Innocence of Childhood Destroyed!

Today my 9 year old daughter came home with an assignment for a certain battle during the Civil War. Being the kind of parent that wants their child to do their best and to find the necessary information on their own, I told her there should be a ton of information on the net. I am very watchful when it comes to letting her on the Internet. I took her to a search engine and typed in the info and it didn't provide me with anything because the teacher spelled the name of the battle of wrong. The teacher is a qualified and verified idiot but that is another thread! Anyway, to make a long story short, the telephone rang and I went to answer it, leaving my daughter at the keyboard for just a matter of seconds....maybe 45 seconds because it was a wrong number and she had typed in civilwarbattles.com and look at what she got!!!!

Her innocence is destroyed and I have alot of explaining to do!

The same thing happened to my little sister-she was about 14 at the time but she was doing a paper on The White House so she typed in www.whitehouse.com , totally a porn site!

I am truly speechless. Things like this really burn me up inside. Hell, I look at porn every now and then but it's not why I have the Internet. I really don't know where to start on how to explain this to her.

I'm just really sad right now!

She was just staring at the screen and had scrolled a little and I clicked it off as fast as I could but I believe she got an eye full. She was saying....Daddy, what is this? I know my face was red as a beet and I told her that I would talk to her later because I was already late for work and when I got home this evening, she was already asleep. I told her that I would find some information for her on her Civil War battle assignment. I know I could have handled it better but I was in total shock as well! I didn't expect this to say the least. My wife and I are talking about this right now and trying to find the proper way to attack this but we are stumped and was trying to see if other parents have had this experience and what they did!

Ok , don't act all crazy. She probably has no concept of what she saw. Ask her if she wants to talk about anything relating to her assignment. Chances are she forgot it already. When I was that age I used to sleep walk. Anyway I walked in on my Dad going down on my mom. He screamed like a woman and pulled them both off the bed. He thought I was a burglar. I forgot about the incident. Mom talked to me the next morning asking if I saw anything that bothered me. i HAD NO IDEA WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT.
Twenty years later the vision of the shadowy figures jumped into my head for no apparent reason. I laughed .. when I realized what I saw back then. Dad was giving Mom oral sex!

You know, even if I had been sitting right beside her when she typed in the address, she still would have been exposed to it! We just got DSL here, so the pages load real fast. I know that she will eventually be exposed to this shit when she gets older but at 9 years old, I was hoping to shelter her a few more years. My heart is truly broken over this. Kids are so innocent until adults take over! I'm really beating myself up over this!
