Amorphis - Far From the Sun

Amorphis - Far From the Sun

Ugggggg....

Damn have they changed a lot. Then again, the guys were, what, like, 17 years old when Tales and Karelian/Entrantment were released?

Tales From The Thousand Lakes is a death metal masterpiece.

Black Label Society - Mafia
Dio - Evil or Divine

Into The Moat - The Design
Novembers Doom - The Pale Haunt Departure
Behold... The Arctopus - Nano-Nucleonic Cyborg Summoning
Impaled - Death After Life

Hi. Long time. Anyone want to join a fantasy baseball league? I have an assload of room.

Wham Bam Mrs. Schram by "The Pasty White Thighs" an old band of mine. SHe was the girl pe coach

Whiskey

Trivium - Ascendancy
Cephalic Carnage - Anomalies
Origin - Echoes of Decimation

New Trivium is a lot better than I thought.

Awaiting delivery:

Trivium - Ascendancy
Behemoth - Demigod
Character - Dark Tranquility
Stabbing the Drama - Soilwork
Blessed Black Wings - High on Fire
A Night to Remember: Live - Evergrey

Man, I'm diggin' the Trivium. Very good. Intense and hard, but operatic and gothic at times. "Rain", "Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr" and many more. Good stuff, thumbs up!

Behemoth reminds me of Nile. Which isn't a bad thing.

Does anyone know of "Death from above 1979"? If so what do you think?
We heard them the other day on Conan obrien show and thought they sounded alright

Well damn that sucks - thank for replying though

Shadows Fall - Somber Eyes to the Sky

I don't think I like this CD much. Phil Labonte's vocals are....well....not good. Comparing All That Remains "This Darkened Heart" to this CD, I would say he has improved a hell of a lot. Production isn't all that great on this album either.

Damn, the money could have gone to the new Trivium or Soilwork albums instead.

That's too bad man. I'd have figured production would suck, since Of One Blood's did, too.

I thought you had a new handle?

Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine
The guitar harmonies in the first song alone blow away everything I've ever heard from the band.

Let me know what you think of the rest of the album. Don't get me wrong, I like their newest album as well as the last one, but I think Predator's Portrait and Natural Born Chaos are superior. I'd be interested in hearing some even older stuff. I have heard a couple songs from Steel Bath Suicide and didn't really like it.

Released tomorrow and I have on order and awaiting delivery:

Six Feet Under - 13
Overkill - Relixiv

Very good CD. Has a very ... Colony-era In Flames aura about it. Definitely sounds like the melodic death metal from a few years ago. Speed's vocals often sound like Anders from In Flames, and at times Jens Kidman from Meshuggah. As I said, the guitars are great. Solos are plentiful and impressive.

I think I like Natural Born Chaos the best, but Chainheart Machine is very high on the list too. But it depends on what kind of music you enjoy. Later Soilwork releases sometimes rely on melody, whereas this one utilizes it. All depends on your taste in music. Next time I catch you on AIM I'll throw a couple tracks your way.

Awaiting delivery:

Burn the Priest - S/T
COC - In the Arms of God

All That Remains - Behind Silence and Solitude
Dark Tranquillity - Gallery (reissue)

"The Mind's I" is also now reissued in the states. I'll be picking that one up soon too.

Damn, that was quick. I must be getting old.

LOL. It wasn't fast enough for impatient people like me. And of course I was too broke to buy both albums (I got the All that Remains album on leftover credit from the cd exchange store).

Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I

:garza:

I picked up their DVD last weekend.

Well I lost my mind and went nuts at a few music stores today.....my wallet feels awful light...

Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I (reissue)
Callenish Circle - Flesh_Power_Dominion
- My Passion // Your Pain
Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine
In Flames - The Jester Race ~ Black-Ash Inheritance
Mudvayne - Lost and Found
Into Eternity - Buried in Oblivion

I did buy Armored Saint - Revelation, but I decided I didn't like it on the way from one used CD store to the next, and traded it in for Flesh_Power_Dominion.

Clayman is an awesome album, IMO. Nice choice.

I like Jester Race and Whoracle a little better, but it's a good album. How does Colony stack up with Clayman?

This weekend I picked up:

Into Eternity - Dead or Dreaming
Kalmah - They Will Return

Colony is pretty similar to Clayman ... little heavier. Also a killer album.

Used a gift card today (which I should have gotten on Christmas, but my boss had lost it, and just found it today, lol).

Into Eternity - Buried in Oblivion
Hammerfall - Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken

aIII, how is Dead or Dreaming? I was deciding between the two ...

Jester's Race > Whoracle > Colony > Clayman

I'm happy that more people are checking out Into Eternity. So catchy. So good.

Agreed, that is a great disc.

I think Buried in Oblivion is better of the 2.

Picked up some cheap used CD's today

Mnemic - Audio Injected Soul
Evergrey - Inner Circle
Life of Agony - Best of
Fates Warning - Parallels

Damn. I was in the CD store last night and I wound up not getting anything. That was a weird experience.

My buddy burned a couple discs for me though:

Mudvayne - Lost and Found
Lacuna Coil - Unleashed Memories

I hate that. It's like there has to be something in this fucker that I might like and don't already have.

I had a couple in my hand, and i listened to them briefly, but just didn't feel like dropping the cash to buy something I wasn't sure I was gonna like.

Pyramaze and Spiral Architect. Trust me on this. Get on the AIM, I'll send some stuff through.

Despised Icon - The Healing Process
Nightrage - Descent Into Chaos
Winter Solstice - The Fall of Rome
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery (reissue)

Spiral architect -- ditto on that shit! Good call, Flah! This sounds kind of like Iron Maiden + Primus with a Swedish feel ?!? To me anyway. I dig it.

I love the bass lines. Creative shit. That album along with Spastic Ink are some of the craziest tech, instrumentally, I've heard.

I've read really good things about Watchtower and Martyr but I haven't checked them out yet. Yet.

I've been hearing the new Brand New Sin tune. Sounds killer.

Porcupine Tree - Deadwing.

Terrific.

Dude! Good call!

Like an old progressive rock band with some new twists. I love the jangly almost u2-like guitar, sprinkled with Free and Zep type 70s riffs, layered with some tasty keyboards like a cherry on top. And the solos remind me of a non-irritating dream theater. But I don't mean to suggest they are derivative at all. It's just way cool and steeped in rock history.

Nice. I've been wanting that Dark Tranquillity for a while. It's always at my local place, but I never pick it up. How is it?

You diggin' the Porcupine Tree?

And that Evergrey is easily one of the best metal albums I own.

I haven't listened to Deadwig yet, but In Absentia is a really good album.

I haven't listened to the DT album either, but I'll let you know how it is.

Just ordered:

Evergrey - A Night to Remember (DVD)
Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny of Souls
Nile - Annihilation of the Wicked
The Red Chord - Clients

Go get yourself assmuzzle.

I did homes.

Listened to about 75% of it, and so far, I'm kinda disappointed. The debut is so much better, IMO.

But, perhaps I need to listen to it a little more.

Hopefully my mind changes ...

Samoth! Inquisition - Magnificent Glorification of Lucifer. Buy it. Enjoy it. Love it? I hope so.

Edit. This album is outstanding. One of the best of the year so far.

Sweet! Gotta get it. I kinda forgot about it.

Upcoming releases:
Nevermore 6/26
Arch Enemy 6/26

Top Bottom
