im obsessed too, i thought i had my diet down, ive got 6 weeks to get ready for my next cycle......imma take your advise and get busy!
thanks....great stuff

I am not saying that being this detailed is truly for everyone and I know myself that I don't follow through on these things all the time like I should. What I wanted to show everyone is the dedication it takes if you are truly committed to becoming a pro bodybuilder. Some guys are freaks and get to the pros without this much attention to detail, but they are a one in a million in the gene pool. But, for those of us whom are mere mortals this is what you have to do.

I hear to many people say they don't have the genes to make it and friends confirming this thought for them. Have any of you seen what Jay Cutler looked like in his early days. I would bet you would say this guy does not have genes, but what he had was a never die attitude and work ethic. You never know what you can acheive until you put forth all your effort. Never sell yourself short and most of all never give up. Don't make excuses for your short comings until you have busted your balls until you can't bust them any more.

It is a shocker for sure when you track your diet. You will find out how off you were from what you thought you were eating.

I applaude your post brotha... Down to the nity grity, the bottom line is it IS consistency, and learning to listen to your body via trial and error. You must be patient and invest a lot of time. The majority of people just want to look a curtain way, and that's fine. But they try to follow this goal by reading other peoples trial and errors and try to relate it to themselves. But they do so in the wrong aspect. Instead of saying wow he trained for 14 yrs and took home the Overall in the Nationals, let me follow what he did diet, exercise, and drug wise. He should say damn let me evaluate what this guy did from point A to B and look at his pattern. I garantee that consistency was the key everytime. Look at the way he wrote down everything he ate and every poundage he he threw up at the gym and tried to better himself with every workout. Look at how he realized something wasn't working right in his diet so he went back and found a problem then changed it accordingly. ALl these things contribute to a winner, wheather you compete or not. You don't have to be a winner just cause you compete.

Learn the 3 D's

Drive
Determination
Dedication

For the guy who does 1 cycle a year and diets for 12 weeks leasurly to look a curtain way for the beach, he will never be a winner because he will never be consistent. He will never know exactly what works for him because he hasn't invested the 3 D's and consistency. He may think he knows what works for him because he does it every year but he will look the same every year as well, he never experiments and pushes limits...he is lazy and does not want it.

The guy who uses the 3 D's all year round and stays consistent will always have improvements every year.

Never be afraid to ask questions or take constructive critiscim, ( from guys who know what they are talking about, not Mr. big arms no legs at the gym) Be a sponge don't have an attitude and make your body work for you it is infact your body, tell IT what to do

Good post BIGp3, I am glad someone has confronted this head on.

I could not have said it better myself. It is the constant pounding and driving towards a goal with attention to the smallest detail that actually gets you there. This is true in the gym, in the business world, in athletics, in education and life in general. If you are not always working for more you will always be the same. This is the way it is and the way it will always be. You can't skip from 2nd grade to the 12th. You have to pay your dues and serve your time. After all, what good is it being great in anything if you did not have to work to be that way. That is where the sense of pride comes from.
