The best cycle of your life

addressing your ' training ' advice, wouldn't getting sore let you know that you accomplished more than the previous work out or that you caused an overload? not saying to solely depend on getting sore...but wouldn't this be a pointer (obviously i don't see applying this to a person who just started working out)?

btw, great post.

Being sore really does not mean jack when it comes to overload this is nothing more than a bodybuilding myth. The only thing that being sore means is that there is an excess lactic acid buildup in the muscle. I have done some brutal training in my day and rarely get sore. You can walk up and down a staircase all day long and get sore from it. Does this mean you will grow. Absolutely not!! The "overload principle" simply implies that all that is needed to grow from the previous workout is increased intensity. I can assure you if you can do more reps or more weight than in your previous workout you are growing. It is really that simple and most people tend to overcomplicate their training.

Here is an example for you: If you increase your bench by 5lbs every other week you will add 130 pounds to your bench in one year. Think about that. Only a 5 lb increase every 14 days. I would bet in a year from now your chest would be bigger. You can see it is small increases in the short term that add up to big gains in the long term. It drives me nuts hearing guys saying I do 3 sets of 10 with 265. I ask these guys do they every go to failure or negative failure? Do they try to top their previous weeks reps or weight? The answer is usually no.

Hope this helps

no prob, I am just glad some people are reading it. I did not think it would get many hits since it is pretty much a novel,,, lol
