Technicality results in rape charge against 14-year-old

LOL

If it were a boy every guy on this site would be in here screaming OUTRAGE!
If the girl were 13 and the guy 30 some people on here would still be mad that the guy was charged with rape, sadly.

It is a ridiculous result in this case. There should always be an exception for parties who are within 2 years of each other and both still under 18. Also, here the girl didn't commit the act. The mens rea does not exist here and this is a crime of intent. If she didn't intend to have sex, she couldn't have raped anyone.

All of these archaic, inane laws involving sex and underage teenagers need to be reviewed. I'm tired of hearing about teens with one or two years age difference gettin busy and the older one being charged with goddamn statutory rape.

Hey legislators, teens like to fuck. Have ya noticed? STFU about it already, you puritanical pricks.

i figured that. i just love these topics. your last sentence sums up everything. a few wackos slobs ruined things for the women who truely have been victims of sexual assault. sucks.

I know a guy that while in the Army his white girlfriend's family forbid her to see him anymore (because he was black) and long story short she saw him anyway and got caught. She told her family that he raped her and sure enough he was found guilty - he's still serving time.

He was only 20 years old at the time and because she lack the courage to stand up to her family she destroyed another human being's life and reputation.

WOW. How could she live with herself?

The girl is not telling her story because she wants people to know what is happening to her. That's a thought only an adult would have. Most teens would want to make it all go away.

I remember velvetts thread about the death of common sense.

Quite applicable here. This application of makes no sense at all. Didn't the police realize the law is supposed to protect the victim?
