Is satriani the guy who taught Steve Vai?

I thik Steve Vai is awesome, but dont really like listening to techincal stuff, just plain old easy listening shit.

OK, I'm not into the technical guitar players myself, but I am a huge music lover. For those of you who do love those types of players what do you think of Robert Fripp (King Crimson)?

The band is a real Prog band that I saw on tour with TOOL(on the west coast, because TOOL is scared of the East) and they blew my mind. They've changed lineups over the years but I believe Fripp stayed constant. From what I heard he can really take it to the next level. What do you guys think? That was my one experience.
