Good morning!! Way to stick with it through the holidays!
I was so proud of myself too! Thanks for taking notes of it! It's amazing how engrained this is in me now -- and honestly, my main motivation (aside from obviously burning off any minor or major indulgences over Christmas) for living in the gym despite my travels and break from work was... BLOATING. Yeah -- never knew what that was like and now I bloat SO easily and HATE IT that I'll run my ass off to prevent it. :whatever::D

HI ROONS!!! :wavey: Yes, 2006 was extremely big for me. I just got some pictures from my dad today from Christmas Day and HOLY :cow: I didn't even recognize myself! Kind of freaky... but good I'm sure. :qt:

Exercise Log for Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007
I'm not going to post my food daily, especially when I'm running behind in logging, but I'll at least get my lifts up and posted here when I can.

Bicep & Tricep Day

Bar Curl
1. 40# curl bar x 12
2. same
3. same
Next time I'll try the first set with a 50# bar -- pecs were still a little sore from the chest lift 2 days before.

French Curl
1. 30# curl bar x 15
2. same
3. same
EEK! REALLY don't like how these feel -- no PAIN... just odd feelings. :worried: Going to keep this the way it is for now until I don't feel odd anymore...but I don't think I isolated my tris well enough because I wasn't focused on that, so I think I'll go back to DB kickbacks.

Standing DB Curl
1. 25# DBs x 10
2. same
3. same
WAHOO -- those are back to norm. Goal is reach all sets of 12 reps before moving to 30s

Tricep Rope Pull to Floor (from the knees)
1. 30.5# x 15
2. 32.5# x 15 start here next time
3. 35# x 15
No pectoral weirdness here like before, so that is WONDERFUL! :D

All in all, good workout again. Happy with it -- making progress.

Cardio for Tuesday, January 2, 2007 --> After lifting; all empty stomach
- 45 minute run on the treadmill, speeds 6.4 to 7.0, incline 0.5
- 15 minute walk uphill

Cardio for Wednesday, January 3, 2007 --> 6am, empty stomach
- 30 minute run on the treadmill, speeds 6.4. to 7.0, incline 0.5 or 1.0
- 10 minute walk uphill, speed 4.2
No PM lifting today -- went back to work today! :( Crazy children!

So the plan for tomorrow and Friday -- seeing that my 1/2 marathon is Saturday morning at 6am -- is to get my last run in tomorrow morning alone and then COACHING run after school tomorrow too. Friday I won't run, I'll use the stairmill instead so my legs are still crankin' but my knees get a day off. :D

Getting excited for my race on Saturday! I have a lot of people pulling for me, so it's a great feeling. I think I can do it! :qt:

OK off to bed I go! :wavey:

:bigkiss:
Hope you sleep well hun!!!

Hey all. :supercool

Fitness Log for Thursday, January 4, 2007
- 15 minutes on the stairmill
- 7 minutes on the treadmill walking

Ok, and sadly that is all. :(

I was SO upset -- but honest to God, I felt sick. Ulter went with me this morning and I had the worst time getting out of bed... then I finally made it to the gym and had this lame-ass workout I am disappointed in.

So why sick AGAIN? Buffalo. :worried:

Yeah -- had a buffalo burger last night -- red meat -- and my stomach hates me for it. Luckily, after drinking some baking soda in water, my tummy settled and I quit feling sick by 10am... but man, I'm so annoyed.

It didn't help matters that my knees hurt like heck today... lots of rain here the last few days -- and then I got to school and my team leader (in middle school, you teach on teams) was bitching about SOMETHING right off the bat. Glorious.

I'm making the most of it, though. Surviving.

I'm due to lift tonight at the gym and I'm doing running club after school, but I hear we're not going too crazy at that. Lord knows, the kids didn't run over the holiday break like some of us did! :qt:

Not sure if I will do legs or upper body tonight. I'm sort of afraid to do legs 2 days before a 1/2 marathon. If I kill them and they are sore on Saturday for the run, I'll be real sorry... I guess I answered my own question!

Awwwwwwwwww sorry to hear bout the feeling sick again hun!!! Stay away from that red meat :( Hope you start feeling better soon... and from past experiences I wouldn't do legs a couple days before a half marathon either because I remember the last time I did a spin class then tried to train legs... well it made my leg workout very crummy so I would only imagine it having the same affect vice versa, my $.02 ;)

Feel better sweetie!!! (((HUGS))) :rose:

Thanks, duckie. You're right, I'm definitely doing upper tonight instead. I think I'm due for shoulders, which is a pretty quick workout assuming no one gets in my way. We'll see about that.

I'm such a sourpuss today... blah! :mix:

Drop the sourpuss attitude ASAP :D
If I turned my attitude around the last couple of days then I have no doubt that you can do the same as well

LOL Cakerbaby... NO TRAINING LEGS BEFORE YOUR RUN! Save them, you'll be thankful.

Feel better! Everyone is sick around here, and YOU know I CANNOT get sick! 2 people here, and the staff AT my doc's office ... :worried:

That's crazy about the red meat.. Im going to test it out this weekend I think. Dont wanna go too long without it for the same reason :rose:

Ahhh no I don't think I would have done legs either before I ran!!!! I hope you feel better girlie. I always find eating red meat once a month or so keeps me sane. No wonder I was insane on my diet down.. no red meat
Good luck on your run!!

LOVE the pictures -- hilarious! That alone would cheer me up, for sure. Also, I'm stealing "Cakerbaby" and making that my new MySpace name -- too cute. :qt: Thanks for the support, doll. :rose: And I'm sorry about all the "sick-os" around you -- how frustrating! :worried:

Thanks for talking with me last night -- I still don't know why your call didn't register; odd. Weird-ass phone does that sometimes. You're right, I had to pick myself up last night. I worked super hard at the gym... and then came home and was crying like a dumb baby because my legs hurt and I was so damn exhausted. Ulter tried to cheer me up and ended up making me go to bed, which was the best idea. :) It's good to have support -- I'm so whiny today too, bless his heart.

Thank you for the well-wishes. I got 8 hours of sleep last night and took this morning off from cardio. I made it through my day at work/school just fine but still feel just worn out tonight... *sigh* Whatchagonnado, ya' know?

Good idea about the red meat -- I really think the steak WAS too much... but I also ate a lot of it, so that may have been what really did me in. I'd eaten the buffalo burger before without problems, so that might be something I'll still take a chance with just to keep my body used to it. I DO miss it, though! That burger was INSANELY tasty! :p

Alright so last night I did NOT train my legs -- I trained... no, I KILLED... my shoulders. Yeah... yowza.

I left my training journal at my apt so I'll post that workout later, but man alive, I couldn't have worked harder! There was my compound move to work my lateral delts... Ulter watched me do them because I didn't think I was doing them right because I wasn't sore.

Honestly... I thought I was going to cry, I was pushing so darn hard. Then I finished and I couldn't stop laughing and shaking... ARGH. Yeah... it worked, though! I had 15dbs and did my first set of the move (incline bench, seated, floor allllllll the way up over the head, arc-arms the whole way) and got to rep FOUR... and I complained I couldn't do it.

Ulter said, "Yeah... I guess it's a baby weight move...." I was , swore at him, and went on.

And just to push the envelope, I RE-DID the first set. NO ONE calls ME a baby!:D

Ok, so my legs are as rested as they're going to be for tomorrow. A coworker of mine is doing the race and has done it before, so she gave me lots of tips tonight. I had a nice pasta dinner with seafood and marinara and I carb-ed up today, but didn't overeat. I drank lots of water, and tomorrow I'll eat 2 bananas a couple hours before I run, so that can slowly digest but not cramp me up.

I have a game plan... still debating about the mp3 player going with me -- I don't really want to f*@& around with the damn headphone cord as I run... but I don't want to get bored because I'm doing this one alone. :whatever: We'll see -- I might just take it and listen to the radio or something for entertainment on the slow stretches.

Ok, so that's all I got for now. Long post, I know. Much love, girls. I'll let you all know how it goes! :wavey:

:worried: Ok this just in...

... and no, I'm not joking...

I'm not doing the race. :bawling:

Not cool... but at the 10K I did at Disney, they had packet pick-up at the race.

SO after I posted my last post... I went on the site to see where I get my packet in the morning or tonight, if possible.

It said "For this race, there is no race day packet pick-up. All registrants must attend the Expo [which was Thursday and today] to get their packets before race day."

Ok hours for the expo today: 9am to 8pm.

I read it at 8:08pm.

Ulter tried to call... no answer; expo is closed, and I can't do the race.

I don't have a bib or a chip or my TICKET that they SUPPOSEDLY mailed to me to use to trade in for my packet, parking pass, etc.

I'm so upset -- just really upset about this whole thing. Ulter doesn't think I'm ready for it -- and honestly, my knees are hurting like crazy today so it's probably best I don't do it after all... but I can't help but feel completely retarded and ditzy.

And I feel like a quitter... though I don't think I would have sobbed for 20 minutes if I was REALLY quitting.

I'm just embarassed because now I have to explain to all my supporters at school - staff and kids -- why I didn't do it. It's a fat kid's nightmare to be called a wimp and a quitter... so I hate this feeling.

Now I just want to go eat ice cream. Good thing we don't have any.

So tomorrow, I will sleep... and then go to the gym like normal and lift lower body, as I normally would. I'll work on the stairmill and get my knees healed and stop pounding on that damn treadmill for awhile and heal up.

I'm sure there's a hidden blessing in this somewhere... I feel like I let people down. I'm sure all will be forgiving, though.

Awwww, T-Cake, I'm sooooooooooooooo sorry to hear that. Sometimes it's the universe's way to tell us to take it a little easier. If you're still determined to do the race, can you just run it away? I know many who do that here in Philly...you just won't get an official time because you don't have a chip, but you can run alongside everyone else from the start to the finish, I believe. Just a thought!

The race is at DisneyWorld and they are sticklers about letting anyone into the parking LOTS, let alone the parks for the race and grandstands, who don't have the parking tickets or bibs or admission tickets on them. SO usually that might have been a good option, but it starts INSIDE the park... so since I can't get in to the park... I can't run. I wouldn't make it past the parking lot because the parking ticket is included in the packet.

I paid nearly a hundred bucks to do this... so I may go get my packet tomorrow anyway because it has a tshirt and freebies in it. I could at least go to the Expo -- the MARATHON, full one, is Sunday, so those runners will be picking their stuff up tomorrow. I at least deserve my damn tshirt... thought I'm a poser for wearing it.

Only finisher's get medals... I won't get one of those. :(

^^ that's an idea!

Tcake... you are not the fat kid who's quitting
you are not a quitter
you are not a wimp
that is not you.

You are different.. turn that voice OFF b/c you no longer encompass ANY of those things.

Those chapters are long gone but not forgotten... chin up and turn the page.. it's surely exciting :rose:

T-Cake said:

That is SO not true and you know it. I think the competitors attitude here about doing a comp, well for alot of the ladies I talk to, is you already won before you step on that stage. No trophy, medal or gift will make your awesome feat any less valuable b/c you didnt win something. I think it's very important to remember there will be other races, you will get these awards in due time but most of all you will get that inner satisfaction of knowing you did it, you accomplished it, and You won FOR YOU, not b/c a medal says X place. Some people just do not get that when I tell them this, as if I dont want to win. Not about that all all.

SO there was an issue with your packet, confusion, it's understandable. Everyone will be like "BUMMER.. we still love you" etc.

You didnt fail.
You succeed EVERY DAY.
You are rewarded every time you wake up with a breath and the ability to open your eyes....

Another thought...when you go to pick up your packet tomorrow, can you explain what happened to the organizers and see if you can run half of their full marathon on Sunday?

And $#@% the medals...you are already a winner, inside & out, sweetie! As Bunns says, you are NOT a quitter and those chapters in your life are but a distant memory. Learn from them, gain strength from them but DO NOT BECOME THEM EVER AGAIN!!

We all :heart::heart: you! No running a race or not is going to change that.

Awww hun!!! :rose:
Like I told you earlier tonight you are the furthest thing from a failure that there is!!! Think of how much you have already accomplished and how much you still have on your plate for this year!!! LIke you told me a couple of days ago... this is gonna be a VERY GOOD year for you! If your knees are killing you sweetie, then thats a sign they needed a break, so missing this race is a small blessing in disguise!!! Don't you worry there will be other races, if thats what you choose to do... but with or without the race you are still a winner in my eyes :bigkiss:

Like Buns, Roony, and SBT told you; you are sooooo not a quitter!!!! If your knees are hurting now they will be 10 times worse running that distance. Think hard pavement..... I have ran 3 marathons and started out everyone refreshed no aches and pains, and all of them will create havoc on your body in some fashion or another. It's a LOT of stress. By my 3rd one I was only half way done when my feet felt like I was stepping on glass, but I was determined to finish and by the time I did I was so miserable it's just not good. Whoopie for a medal... Mine are all tucked away in a drawer now. There are two different t-shirts one just states the race, one usually says "I finished". The "I finished" ones you have to purchase. Lots of people wore the shirts handed out and they didn't run...
Ice those knees, stretch, and just get your body ready for the next one. Life happens I know you feel down about this because duhhh you are belittiling yourself that you should have read the website sooner, blah blah blah.. but seriously like you even said. "Blessing in disguise". Everyone will understand and not think any less of you. Also, running a race or not is NOT a determinent if you are a winner or loser. I think we all know better then that!!!! I think you posted pictures just last week and look how far you have come!!! It's not the end of the world, just find another thing and go with that. You are really an inspiring person show everyone how T-Cake overcomes obstacles and laugh at the silliness of the situation.
 Nothing but love Cakers!!

Just another thought.... pin point 10k with your car or something and run it anyway. I have missed many races and I just do that instead.

T-Cake, I'm sorry. :rose: All I can do is reiterate what has been said, so I won't do that and bore ya. ;) You've done all the prep for this, so you were ready. You are definitely not a quitter!! You're AWESOME!

Just some more support for your girl. I don't think you're a quitter by any means. You trained your butt off for this race and it didn't work out...o well. I can promise you that there will be a heck of a lot more 1/2 marathons for you to kick butt in. Now take care of those knees!!!

:rose: x a zillion

You a quitter, haha don't be so silly girl! You are so far from that. Ok so you missed the race, there will be another 1. You need to start looking at all the things in your life that you accomplished., you're inspiring to so many!

Everything always works out, you may not understand the reason now, but you will!

Ok so now it's time for you to go back to smiling my pineapple ;)

Awww that sucks about missing the packet pick up, etc......but it's only money! And you are SO not a quitter...things happen for a reason!!

Chin up gf!! HUGS! :rose:

Hello, ladies.

WOW, I can't believe how many of you posted in the last 24 hours! Thank you so much... I knew I was supported, but you all just really know how to make me feel awesome.

Thank you thank you thank you! :bigkiss::heart: :rose: galore to you all!

I got about 11 hours of sleep last night... I didn't even wake up until 11am this morning and honestly, my head was KILLING me. :worried: I had a glass of Sangria last night and didn't take Sesapure with it... that's the only thing I can think of.

So I took some Ibuprofen and was feeling well enough to hit the gym at 12:30pm -- late late start for a Saturday but whatever, right?

I wasn't as sad this morning to NOT be doing that race. I woke up at 7am for a moment and thought "OMG, I would be on Mile 8 right now!" and my body was just ACHING, so that small moment made me happy I wasn't doing it.

I still feel silly that I'll have to explain it to people at work next week, but you know -- my priority right now is LIFTING and getting to goal. If I had run/walked that race... I probably would have been out of commission at the gym, cardio AND lifting, for a week, which would have totally upset me.

SO -- I'm good again. :D And I had my REAL cheat day today. :) I had my ISO shake, a Crispani at Panera for lunch, fish tacos at Cheesecake Factory for dinner, and a piece of cheesecake. :p :D It's all good again.

Here are my lifts for this week:
Shoulders on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007

Shoulder Press on Smith Machine
1. 20# on bar x 15
2. same x 12
3. 25# on bar x 10

Upright Row
1. squart bar + 20# x 10
2. same
3. same

DB Lateral Raises
1. 15# dbs x 10
2. same
3. same

DB Rear Delt Row
1. 40# single DB x 10 each arm
2. same
3. same

Incline Compound DB Press
1. 15# dbs x 8
2. same
3. same
These are the ones Ulter almost put me in tears doing -- I was so damn exhausted but my lateral delts need the work so it's GOING to do the trick!

Lower Body/Core on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007

Leg Press
1. 110# x 10
2. 130# x 10
3. 135# x 10 --> This was great; just need to be real warm first.

Good Mornings
1. squat bar + 35# x 10
2. same
3. squat bar + 40# x 10 --> Workin' hard with this; keep head up!

Dead Lifts
1. squat rack x 50# x 12
2. squat rack x 65# x 10 --> Warm up here, start here
3. squat rack x 70# x 10 --> Hard work; goal is to get back to 85#

Leg Extensions
1. 55# ea. leg x 10
2. same
3. x 9 Maxed

Leg Curls
1. 50# ea. leg x 12
2. 55# ea. leg x 10
3. same as 2

Seated Calve Raises
1. 70# x 12
2. 80# x 12
3. 90# x 12 --> This is normal for me; wanted to make sure the knees were warmed up before jumping to 90#

After lifting today, I did the stairmill for 40 minutes, so yes, I totally killed my legs, but I think it was better spent pushing plates than walk/running alone for 2.5 hours.

I'm not upset about the missed race anymore... that's life and I can work hard on my own. They showed some people on the news doing the race and you know, it's a big deal for most people... but I'm an exception.

THEY don't do what I do DAILY.

Hell, they don't what we ALL do on this board.

SO I feel special again. :halo:

Alright ladies I'm outie-5000. I love you all. :wavey:

T......there are always more races.....you only have one set of knees......You'll do it just not this week.....you are still my motivation girl.......You will be there very soon.....(((((HUGS)))))

I was really happy with this chest/back lift because it was the 2nd MAJOR workout I did with the chest since surgery and I already see progression to where I was. Feels less strange every time I do something directly with it; just gotten get those muscles used to working again.

Missing Log Day #3 -- LAST ONE!
Wednesday, January 10, 2007: Biceps & Triceps

Bar Curl
1. 50# curl bar x 8
2. same as 1
3. 50# x 5, 40# x 5 --> Had to power down; forearms were on fire; maxed.

French Curl
1. 30# curl bar x 15
2. same
3. same --> Really wanted to try sets with 40# bar but it was taken... but 30 was still pushin' the chest so I'm okay with it missing today. :D

Standing DB Curl
1. 25# dbs x 12
2. same as 1
3. same but 10.5 reps (maxed)

Tricep Rope Pull to Floor from Knees
1. 35# "heavy" setting x 15
2. 40# x 12
3. same as 2 --> do all sets with 40 next time

Also added in lots of random ab work tonight and did 2 sets of modified push-ups too -- trying to build up my chest without going too crazy; feels good to use those muscles and those push ups are so easy for me to do.

Cardio has been going well.
Saturday -- Stairmill for 45 minutes at the gym after lifting.
Sunday -- Ran/walked 4.5 miles outside (HARD)
Monday -- 20 minutes stairmill at the gym (Had to stop... felt SUPER SICK)
Tuesday -- Overslept so I took it off; knees hurt PM so I didn't coach running club either; I think I was just so damn tired from my MOTHER. :redhot:
Wednesday -- Feeling better. Did 40 minutes on the stairmill this morning without feeling woozy or too exhausted. Killer workout.

I can feel my soreness comin' on! Time for some Aleve and bedtime. :wavey:

I posted all that stuff and my thread got lost! :( Darnit! Oh well.

Happy Saturday, girls. SUPER :D because of a long holiday weekend. Going to the gym here in a few; today is a shoulders day. I could have gone last night but I figured I'd relax instead. The way my 4 day split is set up, it didn't matter if I went either day.

Yesterday was an interesting food day:

B: ISO shake, 2 scoops
L: 1 c. ff cottage cheese, PB Clif bar, sf/ff Jell-o pudding cup (Splenda)
D: Smokey Bones Buffalo burger with blue cheese and portobello + broccoli

I got home and did my fitday and I was at 1089! :) HAHA. :qt: HOORAY! So I had a few cashews and some Haagen-Daz ff zesty lemon sorbet. :p Man alive, that stuff is GREAT!

Today is my official weekly cheat day. I'll do the same breakfast and probably Panera for lunch. My friend's 30th birthday dinner is tonight at Universal Studios CityWalk -- we're eating at Bubba Gump's, the seafood restaurant based on the movie. VERY excited to eat there!!! :D It'll be a fun cheat meal.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm going to do my best to get to everyone's threads today and tomorrow and catch up where I left off. Work keeps me so damn busy! :rose: :wavey:

Nice workouts girl. Your progress is AMAZING!!!

Hope you enjoy/ed your cheat meal :p

Oh my, that buffalo burger sounds divine! :p Enjoy Bubba Gump's...we have one here in NYC. It's a lot of fun!

Sounds like you are doing very well, T-cake! :rose:

Thanks, Roons! Yes, the burger is AWESOME! i'm so happy I didn't get sick from it today! I had it once and i was fine but the 2nd time I wasn't fine, so I was questioning if my tummy can still handle red meat. Looks like it can -- I think the last incident was a remnant feeling from Christmas beef tenderloin! And i can't wait for dinner!

Hi sweetness! Thanks for teh kudos! :bigkiss: I am really happy too about the lifts progressing so quickly! :elephant:

:jump:SHOULDERS Today:jump:

Shoulder Press (Smith machine)
1. 20# on bar x 15 --> used this as a warm-up
2. 25# x 15
3. x 12
4. 30# x 8

Upright Row
1. squat bar + 20# x 12
2. x 12
3. squat bar + 25# x 8

DB Lateral Raises
1. 15# dbs x 12
2. same
3. same

DB Rear Delt Row
1. 40# single DB x 10 ea. arm
2. same
3. 45# x 8 ea. arm

Incline DB Compound Press (floor to above head for lateral delts)
1. 15# dbs x 10
2. same
3. same

Workout had increases all over since last time and 3 of those 5 moves I made notes to increase next time too. Something just gets into me -- I get through set 2, i'm dying... and suddenly 30 seconds later I find myself racking more weight for set 3 to push myself. Feels good.

Cardio afterward: 45 minutes on the stairmill of HIIT in 30 second to 2 minute intervals. Min speed: 7, Max speed: 15

I'm off to get ready for Bubba Gump's and dinner! :p :cool2: C-ya! :wavey:

It DOESN'T taste like Chicken. It's not as fatty as a burger but not as without substance as a veggie burger. That's my texture description. :)
:D That's a good description! To me, it DOES taste like a burger, much like a turkey burger would, but much more moist, which I love. Turkey burgers have a tendency to be dried if not cooked right... and veggie burgers (as Ulter said, and I'm agreeing with) seem to leave me wanting more (i.e. a SECOND one!) But yes yes, the buffalo burger is DELISH! :p

Helllllooooo! Thanks for poppin' in! It's like my little reminder that I need to check in on your thread and catch up! It's been a longgggg time!

SO last night... I ate at Bubba Gump's... oh MAN! :RADAR::D:arty:... I was such a :cow: but it was yummmmmy!

My cheat meal consisted of two drinks (1 margarita and 1 colada type deal), some calamari, onion rings, spinach dip with crackers... then DINNER was the Shrimp Heaven which was hush puppies, coconut shrimp, fried shrimp, peel-n'-eat shrimp, and french fries (I barely touched my fries though... they weren't worth it and I wanted to focus on the shrimp!)... and DESSERT -- we split this chocolate birthday cake amongst the table and I ordered an Alabama (ice cream) Mud Pie.

Ok, so I kept looking around the table and noticing... I think I ate the most off my plate for dinner... I think I ate the MOST appetizers... and I definitely ate the most dessert.

I didn't know whether to feel embarassed... or proud that I knew I worked my ASS off at the gym yesterday to earn that sucker! :jump:

Whatever -- it was decadent. :p

Workout Log for Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007

Lifts: Lower Body Day

Leg Press
WU: 110# x 8

1. 135# x 10
2. 140# x 10
3. same as 2 --> The WU really helped my hips and knees to loosen up.

Good Mornings
1. squat rack bar + 35# x 11
2. bar + 40# x 10
3. same as 2 --> Will do all 3 sets with 40# racked next.

Dead Lifts
1. squat rack bar + 65# x 10
2. +70# x 10
3. same as 2 --> STAY. Owwwwww. :) Tired!

Leg Extensions
1. 55# ea. leg x 10
2. same
3. same --> These aren't hard on my quads... but I can't get the seat comfy enough to a point where the shin pads aren't hurting the fuck out of my tibiae. I was ANNOYED -- need to find my old log where I marked what seat needs to be at... I know I can go higher! :worried:

Leg Curls
1. 55# ea leg x 10
2. same
3. same --> I need to do a WU set next time; I can't go higher b/c my knees hurt too much. I honestly can say I hate doing extensions and curls the most!

Seated Calve Raises
WU: 70# x 8

1. 90# x 10
2. 100# x 10
3. same as 2 --> Progress! :)

CARDIO

5 minutes on the rowing machine -- back hurt... moved to elliptical
20 minutes HIIT on the elliptical; intervals were speed pumps every 4 minutes
20 minutes HIIT on the stairmill using LADDERS (Thanks, DUCKY!!!) L9, 12, 15

A longgggg day at the gym; I am WIPED OUT; lower body workouts just slaughter me but I'm seeing progress so whatever. :qt:

Ulter still says I'm melting away now at a "Biggest Loser" pace -- he says it's incredible because my muscles are showing more and FASTER now because I'm losing the fat so quickly. Looks like my body finally lost it's battle against ME and my bad-ass attitude! :elephant:

Watch out world. :D

I'm Audi! :wavey:

Me too although this three day weekend is going by faster than I'd like!

Thanks for stopping by my log...mad  to you as always. You make me crave shrimp now :p :chomp:

We will have a support group session for daughters with nutty moms when we meet up at the Arnold. We'd have to put a time on it though because it sounds like we could go on forever.

And GO SPIN - after your incredibly high intensity sessions on the stairmill as well as your long distance runs, I'm not sure what kind of cardio there's left to fear at all.

You're welcome and I'm still scared of hurting my little girly parts in spinning class!!! I've heard bad things... should I bring a gel seat? Or does it really not matter because you keep standing up and sitting down? I think I'm more afraid of the pains (and where they will be) AFTERWARD.

I'm off to the gym... AGAIN. 3 days in a row - I did lower yesterday so today is an upper body day with cardio. We'll see what I can muster up. I still need to grocery shop and cook and buy some stuff for the kids to do tomorrow in school; it's a screwy work week for us too -- schedule changes T, W, AND Thursday all for assemblies and various other things. Strange how it works, but the day goes by so much faster.

C-ya in awhile. :wavey:

I agree with Roony! Go and spin, I think you'd enjoy the change of pace after the long step mill and treadmill sessions! You may want one of those gel seats for the first time or two, because I will be honest with ya you're gonna be sore if you don't :lmao: I bought one but ended up giving it away because after the first time it didn't really hurt again ;)

I love Spin class. If you have the right teacher and music the time flies. I never used a gel seat but the first couple classes I was sore. I would just stand up if I was too uncomfortable.

For fat loss, I loved spin too. Something to try if you have a good teacher for sure.

Thanks for the input, ladies!!!

Ok, now I do want to try it -- maybe I'll go get a gel seat tonight. I need to go to Target to see if they have Slinky toys I can have my kids do a lab with tomorrow, so I'll go looking. I already have one on my old bike at my mom's house -- but I don't like her enough to ask her to mail it to me. :) Not worth the hassle!

And I don't know about the teacher -- I've seen a couple different ones... this long-haired-semi-scary dude teaches the early morning classes... and honestly it annoys me because half the time he's OFF his bike, walking around the room, standing by people. I'm always on the stairmill thinking "WTF? Get you ass up there!!!" But I think I'd be too focused on my own thing to worry.

The last sweat session I died through was BIKRAM YOGA. Anyone ever done it? OMG, man alive, it was H O T!!! The worst mistake I made, though, was taking my supps -- i.e. Cardio Breeze, sesapure, Levorex -- in the morning before the class. HUGE mistake; I spent half the class (it's a 90-minute class, btw) on the floor on my back trying to get my head straight again.

Funny enough... I felt extremely refreshed when I left. I didn't know it's humanly possible to sweat that much.

Today is a cooking day for the week (and yes, Daisy, you can live with Ulter and me! :D ) and my recipes for the week are tortellini/spinach/turkey sausage soup and then MY dish for just me is a pumpkin polenta with chorizo and black beans -- it sounded oddly good to me... so i'm going to try it (but I'll cook it with turkey kielbasa instead of chorizo -- that's off-limits for me).

I'm just sitting here waiting for Ulter... dinner's on the table... tick tock... blah blah. Hungry. :p

Yup thats right we SURE did!!! Thanks for the suggestions on those too BUns... by the way I tried mixing it up with the ladders and drop sets this last week  BUt I haven't told her to try that yet, had to let her just try one first ;)

Gooooood job at that cardio sweetie!

Glad we convinced you to SPIN!!! My girly parts have always been protected by a good amount of ass flab :FRlol:, so I've never had any problems with the bike seat. As duckie mentioned, I think you get used to it over time.

As far as your instructor, do you think he may be walking around because he teaches a lot of classes at different gyms? I'm told a lot of spin instructors do this so they don't over-cardio themselves. Just a thought or your spin instructor could just really be a bossy, annoying, lazy weirdo :)

1. 25# dbs (WU) x 10
2. 30# x 5, 25# x 6 :D --> I tried!
3. 25# x 12 MAXED

Lat Pulldowns --> Goal: 105#
1. 90# x 12
2. 97.5# x 12
3. 105# x 10 --> MADE IT! :D

Seated Row --> Goal: All with 90# or higher

3. 97.5# x 10 --> MADE IT! :D

Pec Deck Fly --> Goal: sets of 12
WU: 52.5# x 10

1. 60# x 10

1. 20# dbs x 12
2. same
3. 25# dbs x 10

This workout felt really good. :) I saw my surgeon today actually and he said that sensation won't totally go away ever... but that I'll get used to feeling it. I told him it's odd at the gym because I just picture lifting chest days and suddenly my implants going kablooey! :qt: He assured me they can handle the pressure :D

No lifting today but GUESS WHAT?! :D I took a SPINNING CLASS!!! :elephant::elephant::elephant: I was soooo happy that I got up early enough and MADE it to the 5:45 am session. I just walked in, found a girl who I've seen do the stairmill before that early -- figured she knew what was up -- and asked her to help me set up my bike and help me. She was great about it, thank goodness!

Crazy instructor dude didn't teach but another girl did and I kept up just fine. Some butt soreness today but nothing life-altering. I wonder if it'd hurt to try it again tomorrow (Thursday)... guess we'll find out. And the helpful girl told me the crazy dude really IS crazy. She said the most important thing with him is that if you realize beforehand that you just WILL NOT do everything he wants you to... then you'll be satisfied. :D

Yayyyy! :dance2: It's hard to try something new, so kudos to you for giving it a shot and keeping up. SEE, I told you that you would be able to keep up without a problem. Did you enjoy it though? For me, it's very dependant on the instructor. There is one that I  and I never miss his classes. However, there's another who's eh-okay, and when I do her class, it's just a way to get cardio in and not much else. You should try out crazy dude just to assess how crazy he is :FRlol:

You are one STRONG chica! My joints would fall off with some of the weight you do :D

ps - when are you getting in for the Arnold? Friday evening?

Sorry to cut in... I don't think she knows we get in on Friday Night. I'm bringing my son and I won't take him out of school, plus T-Cake has school, so we'll miss the women's. Which kind of sucks. Well, not even kind of.
It does suck the women's is on Friday. I can't decide whether to take the day off and fly in on thurs for it, or just come in on fri night. That's why I asked. Regardless, we'll figure out a way to meet up...FINALLY! :)

Hooray! :arty:

"We're havin' a party... everybody's singin'.... dancin' to the music... on the radiooooooo... we've havin' a party..." :cool2: :D

I'm such a nerd -- in a Rod Stewart kinda mood today because my radio talk show guys were discussing him today.

Anyway, yes I do recall Ulter saying we'll be in that night. I don't care when we get there, it'll be FUN! I am thinking I might take the following Monday off from work anyway just to recouperate. We'll see!

Today was decent -- kids are driving me NUTS so I'm super happy tomorrow is FRIDAY and they're taking a quiz. That'll shut 'em up! :D:qt:

No lifting today but I did HIIT on the stairmill for 30 minutes this morning. I woke up too late for the spin class but crazy man WAS teaching -- and man, people drop like flies from that room! I never saw him sit down... and only 3 people were cycling (as opposed to the 15 that were there on Tuesday!) Maybe I'll take a class this weekend :)

I'm off to bed!

I never saw him sit down... and only 3 people were cycling (as opposed to the 15 that were there on Tuesday!) Maybe I'll take a class this weekend :)

I'm off to bed!

I love quiz days, hopefully it is a long one and you can get some stuff done.

Have a great weekend!

Oh you TOTALLY know the routine! :D The quiz was a decent length -- I know a lot of the kids won't be pleased with how they did on it and I know it'll bring a lot of their grades down, but they were just RIDICULOUSLY crazy and out of control last week. I was fed up. So happy I at least got to stay away from them over the weekend -- tempted to take next Friday off from work just because I can.:qt: But shhhh!

Ok, I amaze me. :jump: Very productive, exhausting weekend. All that gym time plus Ulter's birthday and then I cooked so much today, I'm just tired. I'm pretty sure this week I'll take a day off. I have a free pass to Universal Studios so maybe I'll convince Ulter to play hooky from work on Friday and go with me. :D

Go Bears! :D :wavey:

Dear God, I hope so! I'm going to send home grade printouts to parents this week to be signed if they have a D or F. These kids are in TROUBLE. We have the state standardized test in a couple weeks and these kids took the practice science portion with me -- the highest score was a 59%! Most of the kids had a 30% on a multiple choice portion.

Yes, I'm scared. :worried: But then again... if they fire me (which they wouldn't do because they know I'm a miracle worker with these kids) it'll be just in time for me to be a trainer and model my little hot ass off or something. I'll sell my story and make some $$$ or maybe just go into pharmaceutical sales... :) But for now... I teach my little boogers!

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying spin!!! Going right after a leg workout huh? Now you sound like me... a lil crazy :insane: I hear ya on the weekends being go go go... hope you get to relax a little during the week to make up for it :rose:

Hello everyone!

Work is driving me nuts -- the kids are driving me crazy. I didn't even get to go online today or post. This state standardized testing is coming up quick and the school is just out of it's damn mind, I swear.

Anyway -- today was just a cardio day for me. I decided to do a circuit to keep my attention:

15 minutes HIIT on the elliptical machine (Precor)
15 minutes steady-state, full resistance on the rowing machine
20 minutes HIIT ladders/side-steps/kickbacks (L9, 12, 15) on stairmill

Total: 50 minutes

No lifting today -- going to lift Tuesday/Thursday this week because M/W the last two weeks was hella-crowded... and if I go Tues/Thurs this week Ulter can go with me. Yay! :D

Tomorrow is Day 6 of cardio, so hopefully I can get up in time to do the 5:45am spin class -- gonna get to bed early tonight! :) Wednesday I can SLEEP IN! :nighty:

Ok I'm tired today... nap time! BBL! :wavey:

Hey gals.

Tuesday:
60 minute spinning class at 5:45am -- good times. :D
Last night, hit the gym with Ulter and lifted chest and back. I have my stats at home, so I'll post the details later.

Wednesday:
No cardio today -- one day off a week! I slept as long as I possible could befoe rollin' on in to work.
No lifts tonight. :)

Tomorrow looks to be a repeat of yesterday, which is all good with me. I'm considering taking Friday off from work, but it depends if I can get this test written in time to leave for my kids to take. We'll see!

Miss you girls -- sorry I haven't been able to post much on other people's logs lately. I'm trying to get caught up but it's hard when I work full time (can't have this open around the kids -- heck, this site is blocked on my work computer -- I use remote access to get to it) and then train part time.

Later chicks

Hello hello! How are you doing lately? Man, I need to catch up on some logs like mad... *sigh* I feel like an EF underachiever!

T-Cake's Log for Tuesday, January 23, 2007
I already explained earlier about my cardio the last few days. Here are my lifts from last night...

Chest & Back

Incline DB Press Goal: All with 30# dbs
1. 30# dbs x 9
2. 30# x 7, 25# x 8 --> Power down, maxed out set.
3. 30# x 5, 25# x 7 --> Same
I'll keep this pattern until I can do all 3 sets with 30# dbs at least up to 10 reps comfortably.

Lat Pulldowns Goal: Sets of 12 or a weight higher than 105#
WU: 97.5# x 10

1. 105# x 10
2. x 8
3. x 9.5 --> Did an extra push here

Seated Row
1. 90# x 12
2. 97.5# x 10
3. same'
Goal is to do all sets with 97.5# next; push for ease then more weight

Pec Deck
WU: 52.5# x 10

1. 60# x 10 x 3 sets --> I can't believe these still challenge me... Hmm...

DB Bench Press --> Still kinda new to me! Trying to work chest directly
1. 20# dbs x 10
2. 25# dbs x 12 --> Pushed myself
3. same as 2
Next time, all 3 sets with 25#... scared to try 30s still; afraid I'll drop 'em on my face!

I'm feeling okay about my progress -- still getting used to the implants during chest lifts... but I have to keep listening to my doc who told me I'm not going to hurt 'em. :p They'll hold up just fine, I hear.

I feel like I'm coming down with something -- I've been flushed all day and my throat started hurting last night. The kids around me all day long are snorting boogers and sniffling and sneezing -- it's just gross but I can't get away from them. I think all my workouts are keeping my immune system high so I havent' fallen victim yet -- as long as I keep getting enough sleep, I hope I can keep this at bay!

:wavey:

WHy helllllllllo there sweeeeeetie!!!
HOpe you had a wonderful day today! Workout looks great... GOOD JOB!

Thank you much, Duck-a-roo! :rose:

Usually I'm set to lift tonight and then I skip Friday... but I called in sick for tomorrow and am taking a day "off". At least I'll be away from the kids. Ulter is moving to a new place tomorrow, so we're going to hit the gym during the day when it's far less crowded than it would have been tonight. Besides, lifts are always better after a good night's sleep for me. :D

I was back to cardio this morning after my Wednesday off. I tried to get up before 5:30 but couldn't make it to spin class! :( Oh well, Thursday is crazy-Spanish-teacher day anyway, so I didn't miss much!

I did a cardio circuit instead:
20 minutes HIIT on Precor elliptical machine (4 min steady, 1 min sprint)
15 min. steady state on rowing machine (Full resistance, fast as possible)
15 min. stairmill HIIT (L9, 12, 15)

Total: 50 minutes

I'm going to try and do a full hour workout tomorrow. I love that I get to sleep in on Wednesday but for some reason, once I get back to the grind of things... I feel like I was just slacking off. It's called a BREAK, T! I'm allowed, right?! :qt:

Yes! Breaks are allowed!! Gives you that oomph! to get back in there.....

Nice cardio circuit too....

Gymgurl said:
No breaks for you Missy.....lol....Good morning T
I didn't take too much of a break! Good morning, GG! :qt:

Ok, I'm bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and HOME! :D Hooray for calling in sick -- though my throat is still kinda bothering. I was hoping it'd all be a complete falsehood. :)

Off to the gym to do cardio and then Ulter and I will go back together tonight to lift weights (which is best for me anything because I can't use my RedBlast in the morning, only once I've eaten -- pills are BIG!)

Ta-Ta for now! :D

Hellllllo, ladies! :D

LONGEST POST EVER but it took me forever to type it all and get it caught up! Please read me!:rose:

I just wanted to share this image that I saw on Bunz's MySpace because it cracks my shit up and it's so me:
heh.jpg

:D Hilarious -- I can't give up my fruity avi just yet, though -- I'm too attached!

Lower Body

NEW GOAL: Ulter feels my legs are too big at this point and it's time to cut 'em up, so all my sets today are aimed to find what weights work best for 20 reps. Dear Lord, I had NO IDEA what I was about to feel...

2. squat rack bar + 45# x 10
3. same as 2 Next time I'll do all 3 sets with 45#

1. bar + 65# x 15 Dropped weight lower so I can get to 20...
2. bar + 50# x 20
3. same as 2 Training log reads "SUCKS" in big letters:D

Prone Leg Curls (Last max weight: 70#)
40# x 20 x 3 sets I'll add a set with 45# next

Leg Extensions (Last max weight: 55# each leg)

Seated Calve Raises (Last max weight: 105#)
1. 45# x 20
2. 50# x 20
3. same as 2 OW :worried:

This workout KICKED MY ASS. Fo' shizzle... I mean, total total burn. So now I'm just imagining the intermuscular fat burning away as I'm dying through these sets... I hope this works!

Back to upper body on Sunday...

Cardio for those 3 days:
Friday: 70 minute cardio circuit (Precor, rowing, stairmill)
Saturday: 45 minute circuit
Sunday: Ok MAD  because I was the first name signed in on the cycle class list for the noon class... I walked in AT 11:58 because I was lifting... all the bikes were gone. I didn't get one... so I had to do a circuit AGAIN :(

Today:
50 minute cardio circuit
No weights :D THANK GOD!

:nighty::wavey:

go in there early, put your towel on the bike with your water bottle :), even a shirt or something, claiming it... then finish your w/o :)

Yes, I love that pic :) It's POOH! My fave

You gals are too cute. :rose:

Bunz -- I love Pooh too! I had everything Pooh Bear when I was in high school -- quite a phase! :D

Will2 -- I think the post took me, like... 25 minutes or so to type up! It was awhile!!! I hate to get behind but I just can't help it. That's why I stopped logging efore... just didn't want to catch up.

Ck -- Before and After pics of my legs would be a good idea! :) I don't have a good batrhoom where I can stand on the toilet in front of a mirrow (which seems to be the EF phenomenon)... but I'm sure I can find a person *ahem, Ulter* who might be able to take some pics. I'd like to see those too! :)

Cardio this morning: I made it to spin class on time! Wahoo! :jump: I'm so bad about getting up and out of bed and to the gym by 5:45 but I made it! So glad cardio is over for a day now -- going to lift chest/back tonight.

Have a lovely day, chickies! :D I'll post my lifts later tonight.

Log for Tuesday, January 30, 2007

Chest + Back Lifts

Incline DB Press (Goal: All sets with 30# dbs x 10)
1. 30# dbs x 10 :D
2. 30# x 9, DS 25# dbs x 5
3. 30# x 7, DS 25# dbs x 6 --> Progress; maybe I shouldn't use the 25s next time and just do all 30s...

Lat Pulldowns (Goal: Sets of 12 OR increase weight)
1. 105# x 10
2. 110# x 9.5 --> At this point Ulter notices my form is wrong... this must be a result post-breast surgery and I was leaning too much to alleviate pain and discomfort in my chest... so I took the weight back down and worked on form for sets 3 and added a set 4
3. 110# x 6 :worried: But good form!
4. 105# x 6

Seated Row
97.5# x 3 sets x 10 --> Will increase the weight next time on a set or two

Pec Deck (Goal: Increase weight higher than 60#)
WU: 52.5# x 8
1. 60# x 10
2. 65# x 10 :D Goal!
3. same as 2

DB Bench Press (Goal: Sets of 12)
25# dbs x 3 sets x 12 Goal! :D

Overall, I'm pleased with progress. Had a moment in the very-crowded gym surrounded by beefy people of "I don't belong" anxiety. I have a before picture in my notebook... and suddenly I found myself hiding it. I don't know what came over me, but I just felt the fat-girl-poser-persona come out of me and it nearly made me tear up. I managed to get through it though, but it shook me up. :worried: Weird

Have a great night ladies! I get to sleep in tomorrow and NO WORKOUTS TOMORROW either! :elephant: YAY! :D

:wavey:

great job on getting out of bed early and getting to that class. No anxiety moments- :YOUR DOING AWESOME!

Thanks, hun. It just came flooding back for no reason... very strange. I guess I got in the gym and I wasn't in the zone yet so I felt more vulnerable to criticism. :whatever:

NICE workout there girlie!!! You rock :garza:
Hope you enjoy your rest, get some for me too LOL I NEEEEEEEED it!

T-cake....just rember it is progress not perfection. That feeling will be something that you will have once in awhile and you just have ot remind yourself how awesome you really are!!!!

Thank you -- and I DID sleep til 7am today... but get this: It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to drive to work -- 8 miles!!! There were 3 accidents on this 2 lane road I have to take -- it was RIDICULOUS.

I am rested.. but man, that had me so late for work and all worked up!

Thank you hun -- that means a lot to me.

I'm at work and needing to grade some tests -- booooo! :( Oh well... back to the grind stone. On a good note I did have a yummy chicken breast and my own broccoli coleslaw for lunch -- pretty tasty! :D

Hey kids.

Took yesterday off from workouts. Today is a cardio and lift day.

I've been dying to tell you guys this because I was so stoked about it. Even Ulter doesn't know yet...

Today I finally went to the crazy Spanish guy's spin class, and YES he's as tough as I thought. Now I thought this guy was going to be a crazy, rude bastard -- but man alive, it was a great class! He was off and on the biek (because he teaches a class right after that at another gym), and when he's off the bike, he's PUSHING YOU, clapping, correcting form, praising do-gooders (including me, first round!) It felt great, and he was real energetic.

So get this: As I'm biking, in the first 5-10 minutes he is like "Do you play soccer? You have soccer player legs!" And MAN ALIVE, I was like :jump::jump::jump: because I've ALWAYS wanted to look ANYTHING like a soccer player!

I told him no and somehow he mentioned people's weight losses in his class; I told him I'd lost 115 and then in class he starts going on and on about how he trains fitness competitors and how I have what it takes, that my muscle, ESPECIALLY my legs, are awesome, etc.

I mean -- CONFIDENCE BOOST GALORE :D

He coaches soccer at the university down the street from me in Orlando, and is teaching cycling now, coaching them, and training 2 girls from competitions now. He was like" Go to the other gym's classes too!"

Ok that is all. :) 60 minutes of spin today... will do bis and tris tonight and post later. :D
