Not sure if I will do legs or upper body tonight. I'm sort of afraid to do legs 2 days before a 1/2 marathon. If I kill them and they are sore on Saturday for the run, I'll be real sorry... I guess I answered my own question!
LOL Cakerbaby... NO TRAINING LEGS BEFORE YOUR RUN! Save them, you'll be thankful.

Feel better! Everyone is sick around here, and YOU know I CANNOT get sick! 2 people here, and the staff AT my doc's office ... :worried:

That's crazy about the red meat.. Im going to test it out this weekend I think. Dont wanna go too long without it for the same reason :rose:

Awwwwwwwwww sorry to hear bout the feeling sick again hun!!! Stay away from that red meat :( Hope you start feeling better soon... and from past experiences I wouldn't do legs a couple days before a half marathon either because I remember the last time I did a spin class then tried to train legs... well it made my leg workout very crummy so I would only imagine it having the same affect vice versa, my $.02 ;)

Feel better sweetie!!! (((HUGS))) :rose:
Ahhh no I don't think I would have done legs either before I ran!!!! I hope you feel better girlie. I always find eating red meat once a month or so keeps me sane. No wonder I was insane on my diet down.. no red meat
Good luck on your run!!

LOVE the pictures -- hilarious! That alone would cheer me up, for sure. Also, I'm stealing "Cakerbaby" and making that my new MySpace name -- too cute. :qt: Thanks for the support, doll. :rose: And I'm sorry about all the "sick-os" around you -- how frustrating! :worried:

Drop the sourpuss attitude ASAP :D
If I turned my attitude around the last couple of days then I have no doubt that you can do the same as well

Don't make me call ya :lmao:::evil:
Thanks for talking with me last night -- I still don't know why your call didn't register; odd. Weird-ass phone does that sometimes. You're right, I had to pick myself up last night. I worked super hard at the gym... and then came home and was crying like a dumb baby because my legs hurt and I was so damn exhausted. Ulter tried to cheer me up and ended up making me go to bed, which was the best idea. :) It's good to have support -- I'm so whiny today too, bless his heart.

Thank you for the well-wishes. I got 8 hours of sleep last night and took this morning off from cardio. I made it through my day at work/school just fine but still feel just worn out tonight... *sigh* Whatchagonnado, ya' know?

Good idea about the red meat -- I really think the steak WAS too much... but I also ate a lot of it, so that may have been what really did me in. I'd eaten the buffalo burger before without problems, so that might be something I'll still take a chance with just to keep my body used to it. I DO miss it, though! That burger was INSANELY tasty! :p

Alright so last night I did NOT train my legs -- I trained... no, I KILLED... my shoulders. Yeah... yowza.

I left my training journal at my apt so I'll post that workout later, but man alive, I couldn't have worked harder! There was my compound move to work my lateral delts... Ulter watched me do them because I didn't think I was doing them right because I wasn't sore.

Honestly... I thought I was going to cry, I was pushing so darn hard. Then I finished and I couldn't stop laughing and shaking... ARGH. Yeah... it worked, though! I had 15dbs and did my first set of the move (incline bench, seated, floor allllllll the way up over the head, arc-arms the whole way) and got to rep FOUR... and I complained I couldn't do it.

Ulter said, "Yeah... I guess it's a baby weight move...." I was , swore at him, and went on.

And just to push the envelope, I RE-DID the first set. NO ONE calls ME a baby!:D

Ok, so my legs are as rested as they're going to be for tomorrow. A coworker of mine is doing the race and has done it before, so she gave me lots of tips tonight. I had a nice pasta dinner with seafood and marinara and I carb-ed up today, but didn't overeat. I drank lots of water, and tomorrow I'll eat 2 bananas a couple hours before I run, so that can slowly digest but not cramp me up.

I have a game plan... still debating about the mp3 player going with me -- I don't really want to f*@& around with the damn headphone cord as I run... but I don't want to get bored because I'm doing this one alone. :whatever: We'll see -- I might just take it and listen to the radio or something for entertainment on the slow stretches.

Ok, so that's all I got for now. Long post, I know. Much love, girls. I'll let you all know how it goes! :wavey:

:worried: Ok this just in...

... and no, I'm not joking...

I'm not doing the race. :bawling:

Not cool... but at the 10K I did at Disney, they had packet pick-up at the race.

SO after I posted my last post... I went on the site to see where I get my packet in the morning or tonight, if possible.

It said "For this race, there is no race day packet pick-up. All registrants must attend the Expo [which was Thursday and today] to get their packets before race day."

Ok hours for the expo today: 9am to 8pm.

I read it at 8:08pm.

Ulter tried to call... no answer; expo is closed, and I can't do the race.

I don't have a bib or a chip or my TICKET that they SUPPOSEDLY mailed to me to use to trade in for my packet, parking pass, etc.

I'm so upset -- just really upset about this whole thing. Ulter doesn't think I'm ready for it -- and honestly, my knees are hurting like crazy today so it's probably best I don't do it after all... but I can't help but feel completely retarded and ditzy.

And I feel like a quitter... though I don't think I would have sobbed for 20 minutes if I was REALLY quitting.

I'm just embarassed because now I have to explain to all my supporters at school - staff and kids -- why I didn't do it. It's a fat kid's nightmare to be called a wimp and a quitter... so I hate this feeling.

Now I just want to go eat ice cream. Good thing we don't have any.

So tomorrow, I will sleep... and then go to the gym like normal and lift lower body, as I normally would. I'll work on the stairmill and get my knees healed and stop pounding on that damn treadmill for awhile and heal up.

I'm sure there's a hidden blessing in this somewhere... I feel like I let people down. I'm sure all will be forgiving, though.

Awwww, T-Cake, I'm sooooooooooooooo sorry to hear that. Sometimes it's the universe's way to tell us to take it a little easier. If you're still determined to do the race, can you just run it away? I know many who do that here in Philly...you just won't get an official time because you don't have a chip, but you can run alongside everyone else from the start to the finish, I believe. Just a thought!

The race is at DisneyWorld and they are sticklers about letting anyone into the parking LOTS, let alone the parks for the race and grandstands, who don't have the parking tickets or bibs or admission tickets on them. SO usually that might have been a good option, but it starts INSIDE the park... so since I can't get in to the park... I can't run. I wouldn't make it past the parking lot because the parking ticket is included in the packet.

I paid nearly a hundred bucks to do this... so I may go get my packet tomorrow anyway because it has a tshirt and freebies in it. I could at least go to the Expo -- the MARATHON, full one, is Sunday, so those runners will be picking their stuff up tomorrow. I at least deserve my damn tshirt... thought I'm a poser for wearing it.

Only finisher's get medals... I won't get one of those. :(

^^ that's an idea!

Tcake... you are not the fat kid who's quitting
you are not a quitter
you are not a wimp
that is not you.

You are different.. turn that voice OFF b/c you no longer encompass ANY of those things.

Those chapters are long gone but not forgotten... chin up and turn the page.. it's surely exciting :rose:

That is SO not true and you know it. I think the competitors attitude here about doing a comp, well for alot of the ladies I talk to, is you already won before you step on that stage. No trophy, medal or gift will make your awesome feat any less valuable b/c you didnt win something. I think it's very important to remember there will be other races, you will get these awards in due time but most of all you will get that inner satisfaction of knowing you did it, you accomplished it, and You won FOR YOU, not b/c a medal says X place. Some people just do not get that when I tell them this, as if I dont want to win. Not about that all all.

SO there was an issue with your packet, confusion, it's understandable. Everyone will be like "BUMMER.. we still love you" etc.

You didnt fail.
You succeed EVERY DAY.
You are rewarded every time you wake up with a breath and the ability to open your eyes....

Another thought...when you go to pick up your packet tomorrow, can you explain what happened to the organizers and see if you can run half of their full marathon on Sunday?

And $#@% the medals...you are already a winner, inside & out, sweetie! As Bunns says, you are NOT a quitter and those chapters in your life are but a distant memory. Learn from them, gain strength from them but DO NOT BECOME THEM EVER AGAIN!!

We all :heart::heart: you! No running a race or not is going to change that.
