Stomach fat question

Ok guys let me start off by posting my stats. (for those of you who may not have a clue who i am)

Currently 21yrs old standing at 5'9" and weighing 180-182. The last time a few years ago my bf percentage was checked and came out to be 13.5%. Im not fat by any means i have a nice solid frame and ive been working out on and off for a few years. After my first year starting i lost some drive and just got lazy and went on and off with no diet.

Used to live on cheeseburgers and pizza and drink a lot of beer. I have started since last month to train with intensity and i have started a diet and i eat about every 2-3hrs.

Meal 1: Protien shake with 2 packets of instant grits thrown in for carbs.
Meal 2: 6-8 whole eggs,oats
Meal 3: Protien shake-fruit or yogurt or something. Sometimes almonds or a cup of vegetables.
Meal 4: can of tuna,fruit,vegetables
Meal 5: Protien shake, and sometimes thats it or maybe ill have a cup of rice or something.
Meal 6: Chicken Breasts or steak with either oats or rice. If still hungry some fruit or vegetables.
Meal 7: Protien shake

Somtimes ill have an 8th meal.

So with that in mind ive always had a semi flat stomach until i sit down which is natural but im not happy with it. I wanna be more lean and ripped and have some abs. Im figuring now that im training with way way more intensity and dieting and cutting out soda and beer for the most part that ill be able to get pretty ripped?

So its my 4th week of doing this and i know it takes a while until you see results in the midsection but now my appetite is getting way bigger. Sometimes which is now becoming more often almost regular for dinner instead of 2 chicken breasts ill have 4 and ill have a cup of oats and rice or 2 cups of either one. And ive been eating every 2-3 hrs and snacking on almonds in between or maybe some fruit or something somewhat healthy. Will my midsection start to go the opposite way even tho im eating "clean calories"? I know when winter comes i wanna focus on bulking so ill basically allow myself to over eat.

Once again a long post but descriptive. I would really like some comments or suggestions or anything you veterans may have as i am new to dieting and eating every 2-3hrs a pretty decent sized meal.

Edit: Forgot to add that sat and sun are rest days and if i do anything its light-medium intensity cardio so that i make sure i dont overwork myself and start to burn way more muscle than whats natural or wanted.

are you a smoker? smokers are prone to carrying more bodyfat in the midsection area.

Nope im not a smoker but ive tried it before but i think ive smoked a total of possible 5 cigs my whole life and the last time when i was in highschool doin em at a party was 3years ago or so. I used to drink often but i cut that out recently when starting this new lifestyle of gettin serious with this stuff. Im just havin a hard time understanding that i can eat soooo much food and gain quality muscle and not as much fat. Ive always had a flat stomach but no abs showing.

Unfortunately, exercise increases appetite. However, usually the overal net effect on calories would still be that you are more likely to go in calorie deficit than surplus.

I kinda also think that eating every 3 hours increases appetite - I know that I constantly feel hungry now, and more often restrict the amount I eat than I did years ago on the standard 3 meals per day diet.

If you are overbinging on clean food, it can still lead to increasing fat quite clearly. Unfortunately, there is no simple answer except don't eat when you have reached your daily calories. This is easier said than done though. You could perhaps choose a very low calorie density foods in your dinner (e.g., non-starchy veggies) to boost the chances that there will not be some late night food binge. I often eat 500-700 grams of veggie mix (carrots, brocolli, rep peppers, cauliflower, spinach) with meat for dinner to ensure there are no late night binges. I know if i was to get the same many calories from rice or sweet potatoes, I would be heading back to the fridge.

Well its not so much that i get a late night binge at all or a binge really at all. I just noticed i can consistantly eat al ot more and then after about 10 mins of feeling comfortably full my stomach goes right to being flat almost like i didnt eat except im not starving.

Could this be that my body is getting used to eating a lot of food to grow? Also i eat slow now and i would say it takes me about a half hour to 45 mins to eat my meals.

I never feel like im starving but before i noticed that every 2-3 hrs i was like omg i cant keep eating every 2hrs im not hungry. Now its like my body is trained. Sometimes if i get to the point where im really hungry but its not meal time ill have some yogurt and some fruit and some almonds or something.

But like i said before could it be im on my way to growth and my body is adapting so that i can eat like a horse? All i know is before every 2-3hrs it was a struggle to eat but now its like np at all.

I don't know that I agree with that...smoking cigarettes has been shown to actually increase metabolism. Not suggesting that cigarettes are healthy for the body by any means, but fat storage is going to be mainly derived from diet/genetics..

I agree with sim882 on the calories and eat lots of veg. I would cut the oats and rice way down. They are very calorie dense and actuall provide relatively little nutrition compared to the rest of your diet. Also, the almonds between snacks may be a problem. Calculate your snacks to be balanced the way you want and count out the almonds as part of that snack. Don't just dig into a bag. it's easy to overeat with nuts. They're a great food but very high in calories. At 21 years old, your abs should be rock solid.

have you given any thought to taking an appetite suppresant? or some kind of stimulant? That will help you control the amt. of food that you eat, keep it to small portions, cut the carbs out a little more, drop it to 150-200 g per day. and don't eat carbs past your posst workout meal. You need to be doing cardio at leasst 4 times per week also. Give these suggestions some thought, and pm me if you need anything else..

I wish my girlfriend would over eat the nuts.

IMO - your substituting too many protein shakes for real food - and real food is what you need. As for 5-6 meals a day - STICK TO THEM (but make sure that you DONT exceed your daily calorie intake)and try not to snack in between meals!
