Splitting proteins and carbs post workout

it's know the reason to take hi gi carbs post workout is to replensih glycogen stores so that protein is spared right? I was told by someone, and this kinda makes sense to me that post workout you want to have a slight gap, say 10 minutes between taking carbs and proteins because if taken together straight after training, chances are that some of the protein is broken down into glycogen. Is this true or hogwash?

I would say its hogwash, since carbs are digested and absorbed faster then protien anyways. In any event, when you eat protien some of it is ALWAYS broken down and converted to glycogen. Get your protien in as soon as possible post workout. The sooner your traumatised muscle have access to a high concentration of amino acids, the sooner you'll slow down the catabolic process initiated by your weight training. The greated majority of it is occurs within the first hour, 10 minutes could make enough of a difference to reduce your post-exercise muscle breakdown by a signifigant amount.

You're welcome. That's why I like the diet and training forums. You get so many points of view and perspectives that you would never think of yourself. Its much easier to reavaluate what you are doing when you hear all of the opinions and have more informatoin to work with. I know that the boards on EF have totally changed the way I train, and taken me in directions I would have never considered to be viable two years ago.

Thanks for the Karma bro; I'd return it, but, it turns out I only have gray karma. I guess no one likes my posts usually.

-Ve= negative? I don't think so. I've only had one karma where the guy was mad at me. It says i have 35 points, whatever that means. I just know that gray is worthless, and thats what I have.
