Splitting legs up?

BITCH said:
Perhaps the reason the split worked for me is because I don't carry excess weight in my legs and really have to work hard at building and keeping muscle there. I did put on nice size in the quad area, but my hams were still not up to par, so splitting worked for me.

PS. to actually add something useful to this thread...I would advise against quads and hams on different days...too much overlap. However I would advise against workin a bodypart only once a week. So take my recommendations with a grain of salt.

Had to bump.

What about training quads and hams together, then in 3-4 days add some sprints and plyos?

Personally, I don't do any calf work at all. My quads & hams were in nice shape with NO work, so I certainly wouldn't work them on separate days... I build easily & all my cardio (rollerblading, biking, running & aerobics) was enough to get some work in!

As for plyometrics... we do tons of that in any aerobics class, so I get that often. I take boxing classes on occasion (real boxing, not that tae-bo kicking/punching air crap) & we do intervals of sprints. Aerobics works the calves too.

I guess it just depends on your body, your tendency to build & your goals.
