So if deadlifts are supposed to be so great..

why didn't someone tell me before that it's that fucking simple?!?!

ok, time to start a shopping list....

test, check. dbol, check......

Broomsticks with a rectangle head work better than the fan shaped head.

what pigeon rat said. and no one does them because they hurt like a sonofabitch when you go heavy. but in a good way. don't do them and you'll likely never have that powered look around the shoulders that a deadlifter gets. you know the look when you see a guy hauling a pair of 100lb dbs back to the rack and he looks like a menacing bull coming to kill you? *snort*

it's not just in the gym either. i also rarely see people deadlifting in the median while stopped at a red light. just sitting in their cars being all weak with their gay ass lumbar/vagina support cranked full throttle to provide comfort for the lower back. when i'm not outside my car ripping off sets and hitting the pedestrian's Walk button so that the light stays red longer, i'm sitting in the driver's seat while someone kicks the back of my seat right where my erectors are while i laugh.

I love you man.

No disrespect to anyone here, but someone who juices will put muscle on by doing reps with a broomstick.

this right here, is what people on EF love to see. especially on the anabolic forum. i don't think a single person will disagree with this statement. and thank god it's true, because a good diet and routine are way too much trouble.

Ok, BBF is going to be a voice of reason here. Too many people place too much emphasis on one lift or another being so much better than the rest. If you are traing hard and intelligently you can make gains using a wide varity of lifts.

I'm not knocking deadlifts. I have pulled 615 for a single, and on my stiff legged deads I have don 425X6 and on rackpulls 725X5. Yes, I made gains while doing them, but I have gone times withotu doing them, such as recently, and made gains in my back while NOT doing deadlfts after having previously used them for a year straight. Why? Because I use a good combination of movements, train very hard, and train intelligently. There are no magical lifts.

Yeah that's the other thing I love about them. I don't do any direct trap work anymore. I just started doing deads and rack deads, and my traps exploded. The only down side is that my traps get so damn sore for the next few days, and it's one of the most annoying sorenesses.

sore traps.....

monday - chest/legs (box squats and a few other things)
tuesday - back/shoulders
wednesday - legs

sore traps are something i'm getting very used to.

As i've said before repeatedly, if you juice, then no you don't need deadlifts to build a decent back. If you're natural, you have no chance of building a deep, thick back without deads.

I've seen guys that juice build a decent back with 15 sets of cable rows and nothing else, but you won't be able to do it naturally.

No disrespect to anyone here, but someone who juices will put muscle on by doing reps with a broomstick.

If that is the case then why do we have guys who have posted pictures, who use 2+ grams a week and are not big?

Why do kids at my gym ask what I am on because they are using 2 grams of test a week and weight 175 iwth 15" arms? Do you think they need heavier broomsticks, or are they just doing the broomlifts the wrong way?

I've said this before and I'll say it again:

Deadlifts are not magic. They're a great strength exercise. In terms of hypertrophy, they're more of a lower body exercise than anything (look at what's actually moving the bar, not at what's merely anchoring it).

??

Ummm......no.

Erectors, dude.
