What this all boils down to, is this: how important are negatives while deadlifting?
The sticky on the powerlifting board doesn't even mention letting the bar down, and I'm confused.
I don't like making lots of noise in the gym, so I try and set the bar down slowly and in control. Of course, after I hit the top of the lift, my form is shot and I'm hunched over pretty badly while I'm setting it down slowly.
Should I not worry and set it down quickly? Should I have a spotter help on the negatives? Should I set it down and try and keep my form intact? Should I go lighter? Should I get ready to be flamed?
Danke!
(I did set a 'personal record' of 195 today. Of course, it was the first time I'd tried!)
