Shoulder injury...

New member
Was down in the gym this evening, chest and biceps day.

When i was doin incline dumbell press, on my 3rd set got on to about my 8th rep struggling with it, arms were out wide if ya know what i mean. My friend who i train with came behind me when i was about 1/3 the way up and helped me by putting his hands under my elbows but he also pushed my arms in together, i felt my shoulder lik it was on the edge of its socket (idiot pushing them in like).

I felt lik a pop. With the weights in my hands i felt serious pain, i wasnt gona just fuck the dumbells onto myself so with whatever strength i had i lowered it onto my lap.

After it my arm was weak as hell, lik i had a really weak grip. Strength came back after about 5 mins.. went on to do preacher curls etc..

But now my shoulders sore to move, i dont really have full range of motion when i try and do like a front crawl movement, i can move it but its sore.

I'm just wondering is there any point in me goin to get an x-ray or whatever.

The only things goin through my head at the minute is not bein able to train, depressing actually.

how bad is the pain?

I banged up mine last wed (on incline bench too)

I took a week off before it got ANY worse. I couldnt lift my arm up at all. It felt like my joint was stoping my movability. It prob was swolen thats why i coudlnt move it well..

Now its day 5 and it feels better. but i cant honestly tell u untill im at the gym banging weight again...

Depends how serious it is bro, do u think you should see a DR? then yea!

Dont wrroy about the time off. EAT CLEAN/BIG and your strenght wont go anywhere in a week. In fact youll prob heal up whatever never got a FULL chance to recover.

Well lik you say about you thinking yours being swollen, thats what i thinks wrong with mine.

Like my shoulder went through a movement it never has before, and its maybe bruised internally?

EDIT: the pain's like a sharp/shooting pain

I've never had any shoulder issues, but doing what mm did sounds like the best plan for now. And if it doesn't improve or gets worse during the time off, consider seeing a doc.

Also, flaring your elbows excessively places a lot of stress on the shoulder. Your friend's attempt to help was still really dumb since it "corrected" the problem rapidly and unnaturally, but in general "arms out wide" is a recipe for shoulder problems.

Yeah know what you're saying, i had perfect form for all but that last rep, i was actually just gona give up until he assisted, kinda raging.

Think im just gona sleep on it tonight (not my shoulder, seeing the doc :P)

Possibily be at the hospital in the morning, could also mean time off work which is definately not good at the minute.

Well just back from the hospital, did xrays and stuff to see if there was any calcium deposits or whether i broke anything etc.

Apparently ive sprained it and it could take up to 4 weeks to be 100% again *sigh*

take your time and dont start over too soon. otherwise shoulder injuries can stick around forever.

Man, I know what you are going through, I did something to my rotator cuff and the doc says it will take 6-8 weeks to recover. Its frustrating as hell not being able to lift.

Just give it the proper time to heal and make the best of it.....and tell your friend to learn to spot d-bell presses at the wrist.
