Should the fuel station have to pay for my clothes for this?

You're wasting your talents on the rig. . .you should have been an attorney. :lmao:

I really do love my job, as frusterating and hard as it may be at times.

But that is the one thing I have heard for years from everyone. lol

LMAO....

Oilfield still pays better.

i don't know. . .if you stayed in the same industry, with your working knowledge of it, i'll bet you could pull down some serious shang and you wouldn't feel nearly as old at 40. . .food for thought. . .

okay mountain WTF? I admitted that it was my fault I didnt see the off/on switch would snap back and not lock in the down position. I've used this truck stop at least 100 times and the last time I was in there I was the one to report a leaky fuel nozzle.

I dont see how I'm liable for the fucking pump being broken. Where is their regular maintanence on a fucking 60 gallon per minute truck pump? Additionally, their truck wash hoses were turned off due to the winter temps so I couldnt wash that shit off.

How would I not be charged for the dumped fuel? I pumped it out.

It does me no good to try to push the lever down on the diesel pump if it's not going to work, so wtf was I to do then? This is the only real truck stop in town, and the only stop within 50 miles that has the 60gph pumps.

Well this is actually an "easy" fix. I was working on my truck the other day changing the fuel filter, got a ton of fuel on me. Clothes REEKED. But the trick is to wash them a couple/three times in HOT water with a cup of vinegar and a third of a cup of dawn or any LIQUID dish soap with each wash. You can't smell any of the above on my clothes and they were not discolord or damaged in any way.

I wonder if I can do that with my snowboarding jacket. I've only ever had it dry cleaned. The jacket was around $200, new shoes $100, and AG jeans $160.. it was by far my nicest ''going out casual'' outfit.

What kind of truck do you have?

It does not take a professional to operate a basic gas pump. The retainer is what was faulty and a quick look, which can be reasonably expected of any John Q, before use, is what is the issue. I don't see the pump as "faulty". He could have easily seen upon a quick glance that the retainer was broken. That is not too much to ask of anyone able to drive a vehicle.
Also, nozzles have a built in back flow valve, retainer or not, which stops the pump when it gets backflow.

This is his fault. Period.

Okay, I'll explain to you how this happened one more time:

I pushed the off/on lever DOWN TO THE OFF POSITION and attempted to get the rest of the fuel out of the hose. It cant be my fault the pump did not turn off when the lever was in the off position. What would the dept of weights and measures think of that?

So you were using an old style pump with an activator lever on the actual pump and not on the handle?

If that is the case, are you certain you actually turned the handle all the way to off? There is an increase in pressure and noise when you do usually.
