Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & CA Bound

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

I think I'm gonna hold off on pix until week 12 -- last week of April.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Don't think I can wait that long :)...as you know, I don't have alot of patience :)...Still thinking July 22nd? or leaning toward the 15th...or both? We are going to book our tix for the 22nd :)
By the way...put one of the mag covers in a frame for my dad...he thought it was the COOLEST thing ever!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

LOL nuttin to look at yet.

Last few days - very frustrating & emotional -- as I come to discover... its that time of the month! Wohoo. (fuck) I really thought I was starting to buckle under the stress of trying figure out wtf I want to be when I grow up & where I want to do it. Instead.. you guessed it. Aunt Flo. Mega props to a certain couple someones who have patiently dealt w/ me thinking I'm losing my mind only to find that its all hormonal.

Last night I hit the gym too late (forgot it closes early on Friday) so ended up bailing on Leg Day. Then thanks to a night of chatting w/ PBR, CB, Humorme, RedGuru & needto and angel, I was up late enough to hear the tornado sirens start and continue running until nearly 5 am. And THEN the lightening and thunder started. That crazy weather that blew thru the midwest also hit N. Georgia. No damage here but around my county all sorts of stuff - 44K people w/o power, saw a mid-size semi flipped over and some property damage, so it must've been pretty dramatic in some places. I'm not used to tornado country so I really had no idea what to expect here w/ all the hills - it was kinda freaky so didnt' get any sleep until after 5 am. Slept until at least 2 pm. (sorry matty :( )

I did hit the gym tho!

8 April 2006 (Sat)

Diet:
Meal 1: 3 pm
1 turkey patty
2 oz potato

Meal 2: 5:30 pm
4 oz chicken
2 oz potato
2 c broccoli

Meal 3: PWO
2 scoops Bev Intl Muscle Provider + water
1 Capri Sun electrolyte sippy thingy (16 g carb) -- very depleted from my workout

Meal 4: 9 pm
4 oz chicken
2 c broccoli

Meal 5: ?

Training: legs
5 min treadmill warmup
Squats: bar/20 x 2 - warmup
Squats: 45/12 55/10+45/5 45/12 (means bar + 45 on each side = 135 lb)
Giant: (quads) x 3
- leg press: 180/12 x 3 (means sled + 4x45 on each side = sled + 360 lb)
- 1 leg x hack squat: 25/12 x 3 -- these were BURN OUT!
- leg ext: 130/12 x 2, 130/8 -> 115/5 -> 90/5 ->75/8 -> 40/10 -> 10/10 (BURN OUT) - 4 TUT
Giant: (hams) x 3
- GMs: bar/12 --> switched to DLs for more ham: DL: 10/12 x 2 -- lower back is a problem
- lying leg curl: 90/12 x 3 -- these were all great tonite - 4TUT w/ great hold at the top, couldn't go up to 115 tho
- hyperextension: 0/15 (4TUT) + 5 5-count pulse x 3 --- OUWWWWWCH! :)
Reverse ham raises: 15 -- this was an experiment to see if it was doable on the hyperext. Yep!

*STRETCH* --- trying to get my full flexibility back after nearly a year of neglecting it -- goal is a full split left & right as well as nearly full front split and also working the kinks out of my lower back which is really impacting my ability to do squats and DLs.

30 min cardio: LifeFitness Elliptical w/ upper body motion.

I remember vacating to the basement in MN while growing up, but I've "only" had to deal w/ hurricanes the last several years. At least those things you can see coming. Tornados -- holy crap - could be a nice balmy night, next minute your house is flipped over in your neighbor's back yard.

Thanks for including explanations for us newbies.

What does the 5 count pulse mean on the hyperextension? I think I know but I'm not sure.

Glad to hear that you are ok with all the storms happening.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Hey que - I guess I'm keeping this more for my reference than for others & my shorthand is in terms of # plates on one side - so dont bother adding up all the total weight.

On the hyperextension --- 1 rep = a full range motion -- pulse is hold it at the top & do 5 short counts w/ maybe 1/4 range and then release.

Your reference notes are helping. Thank you.

5 count pulse - gonna try that at least once. ;)

Meal 4: 11:45 pm
4 oz top round steak.

Training: chest, bis & abs
5 min treadmill warmup
walking lunges: 0/40 steps x 4 --- incorporating lunges, sissy squats, etc. for warmups like last yr roughly every training day -- quads / hams are my weak spot and also helps to stretch my psoas which is very tight from a rotated pelvis / lower back problems I still have from last yr.sissy squats: 25/20 x 3
incline DB Press: warmup: 20/20 x 2
Giant (chest) x 3:
- incline DB press: 30/12 x 3
- incline DB fly: 20/12 x 3 -- shoulder was hurting --need to warm up these before chest..

- Hi cable bi: 20/12 x 2, 20/8->15/5->10/10->5/15 --- burnout set w/ 4 count hold at each contraction

* Stretch + abs * -- workign to get back to doing a full front & side split and also very aggressively pursuing stretch work to help my psoas -- this has a huge impact on my ability to do DLs and anything else that touches my lower back.
ball crunch super:
- upper abs crunch w/ 8 lb medicine ball behind the head: 8/25 x 3
- lower abs crunch w/ 8 lb med ball held hi up: 8/25 x 3

30 min cardio -- treadmill at angle 15, speed 2.7

I hope your work out went well considering you had no sleep :worried: Holy lunges!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

I'm not stoked at 6 am.... Maybe I need more Cardio Breeze to pull that off....

I am fascinated w/ that wonderful soreness in my hams & glutes tho -- not sure if its from the lunges or the stretching, but its nature's way of letting me know those muscles are still there and not just "hanging around" (literally... )

Awesome q! They are a ... PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!!!!!!!!! (bwahahahahaha!)

Hypers are great -- well, in a sick sort of way - because I can usually do the first 10 or so like its a piece of cake. But when I get to the last 4 -5 --- BURNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I don't use weights anymore because it tends to aggravate my back, but you can do things like the pulses, doing a slow release & pull, dont' drop the tension AT ALL even tho it seems really easy to do. You can also incorporate them into a Super or Giant set to keep them under the gun.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Dammit my internet dumped when i was half way thru fitday. Fuck fitday today.

12 April 2006 (Wed)

Diet:
Meal 1: 10 am
1/2 grapefruit
1 whole egg + 7 egg whites

Meal 2: 1 pm
4 oz turkey pattie
2 c broccoli

Meal 3: 4 pm
4 oz chix
1 c green beans

Meal 4: 7 pm
PWO shake

Meal 5: 8:30 pm
4 oz chicken
2 c broccoli

Training: delts & tris
Warmup: 5 min treadmill
Giant:
- walking lunges: 0/50 25/50 x 2
- step ups: 20/20 x 3
- hypers: 20 x 3
warm up (shoulders)
- machine press: 60/12 x 2
Giant: (delts) x 3
- DB shoulder press: 35/12 40/12 x 2 (got a spot up)
- side laterals: 15/12 x 3
- rear laterals: 15/12 x 3
- smith shrugs: 55/12 x 3 (means bar + 55 on each side)
Giant: (tris) x 3
- tri bench dips: 25/12 45/12 x 2
- bent bar cable press: 50/12 x 3
- pronated + supinated alt db kickbacks: 15/20 x 3

30 min treadmill: angle 13 / speed 2.7 -- was tired, so did slow, deep strides

stretch

... So then I come home, do my usual. Around midnite my internet dumps. Same problem as a few days ago. Ive got my laptop on the floor, kneelinig in front of it w/ a hardline to the cable modem bypassing the wireless router. After I get off the phone w/ the provider & the setup works again, I roll over on my knees and something gets stuck. So now I'm crawlign around on the floor and can't straighten my left leg.

My favorite muscle guy, Quadsweep, also a massage therapist & all around body guy, suggests its my PCL ---( recall opposite of Jen's ACL) -- guessing the ham & calf tendon are overlapped when I rolled over on my knees. Anyway --- I'll be in bed w/ ice and whatever painkilllers / relaxers I can find to see if it releases by the morning. I hope so --- its 30 steps up to my bedroom and no wireless connectivity.... FUGGGG...

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Awww - hope your knee is better in the morning!! That is NO good! :worried:

I am voting that today was an overall BAD day for internet connections...screw them ALL!!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Thx girl. I got it to work for a while, then packed it all up and butt scooted up to my main floor, fed the cat, loaded a soft cooler w/ some ice packs & enough food to get me thru tomorrow morning and butt scooted the last 15 stairs. I was completely soaked in sweat by the time I got upstairs. Popped some ibuprofin, swore alot because I don't have the muscle relaxers I thought I had and set up in bed. My own internet connection dropped so I'm riding on someone else's unsecured link tonite. Shhhhhhhhhhh!

The only fun pills I have are some halcion so I popped one of those after checking any interactoin between that & ibuprofin. Now just waiting for it to kick in so maybe I can keep from rolling around too much. I've been alternating ice / no ice every 20 min for the last 90 min. Maybe one more round.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Well, my knee came back but my internet didn't. I've been reduced to my emergency "FREE 90 DAYS OF AOL!" disk & a 20 ft phone cable. Jeez. I'm so freeking tired from last nite. Up until about 4 am swappign out the ice but the knee started to get better. Then the Halcion kicked in & apparently I feel asleep on a bunched up towel and now I've got a nice big fat bruise where that was.

I may be having an issue w/ my laptop's connectivity some how so will need to deal w/ that at some point soon. Until then... dial-up baby!

MEGA THX TO QSWEEP for helping me last nite.....!

Not sure what I've got in me to do in the gym today. Being very careful w/ my knee and just waiting to see if 4 cups of coffee & some Cardio Breeze make me give a crap about anything ....

:)

Thx girl! Most of the day was just in a flaky fog still messnig w/ my internet connection. I finally just had to get out of the house - then somehow the emotional drain of it all hit on the way to CompUSA to get a 25 ft ethernet cable. One call to mom later, I feel a lot better :)

I also made a score at Target! Found a $9.99 iPod Shuffle belt clip -- my poor little iPod -- I got the little one so i could hang it around my neck as the arm band ones are too small & annoying. Except the lanyard that the iPod hangs on gets soaked and that just gets sort of disgusting. So... yay!

Mom's always have that effect......most of the time, anyway! lol

Hope the knee is on the mend. I can feel the same thing "pop" when I do leg curls.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Hey Sassy! Enjoying reading the log, and just wanted to say keep up the good work! You were right my diet is quite similiar to yours (well minus the grapefruit don't like those :p)

Moms are pretty cool that way ...!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Only problem with that lanyard is it holds the player in the exact spot dumbells are to hit during chest, or back movements with cable + bar combo.

I so know what you mean!!! Mine use to fit on my arm fine, and now especially during arm day after every set I'm having to increase the band and it's almost maxed out!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

That armband shit hasn't worked for me since 2000. The little clip I got is a mega score for me!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Hard & fast leg work out tonite. Also discovered my chiropractor has started her 2nd week of a training program so maybe I just found a training buddy - or at least someone to while away my cardio time with...

Diet: sleeping patterns still hosed completely... still up at 5 am...
Meal 1: 11 am
1 whole egg + 7 egg whites
1/2 grapefruit

Meal 2: 3 pm
4 oz chicken
1 c green beans

Meal 3: 6:30 pm
4 oz chicken
1 c green beans

*train*

Meal 4: 9pm
4 oz chicken
1 c broccoli

Meal 5: 11:30 pm
4 oz top round steak

2 gigantic cups of decaf

Training: legs -- hard & fast cuz the gym closes early on Fridays
Warm up: 5 min treadmill
Giant: x 2
- walking lunges: 15/ 50 x 2
- step ups: 20/20 x 2
- 45 degree hypers: 25/20 x 2
Giant (quads) x3
- squats: bar/20 (warmup), 45/12 x 3
- leg press: 45^4/12 x 3
- leg ext: 130/12 x 2 130/5->115/5->100/5->85/5-> alt 25/5x 3 -- burn out
Giant (hams) x 2:
- GMs: bar/15 10/12
- lying leg curl: 100/10+ 3 pulse at top x 2
- 90 degree hyper ext: 0/15 + 5 pulse / 2

Ran out of time for stretching & cardio tonite, but based on my better common sense re: the "knee incident" & "butt scooting" the other night, I'm cutting back on the stretching for a few days and reading about it instead.

And the good news is that my Nytol is now kicking in at 1:42 am... might yet get a reasonable night's sleep!

G'Nytol!

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Glad to hear your knee is feeling better :rose:
Sorry to hear about being forced to use AOHELL on dialup....ewwwwwwww!

Here's a funny you can appreciate:
"M" switched from dialup to a local ISP's dsl package about a year ago. Of course he speed tested it after installation and was getting the speed of a T1.......he neglected to mention this to them.

They called him the other day and informed him that his download speed would decrease because they determined that they had inadvertantly set him up a a T1 and since it was their error, there would not be any additional charges for the year's worth of T1 service that he received for the "DSL price." :lmao:

He's a little tore up because he can't download 4 movies, games or linux iso's at the same time anymore. He can only do one at a time. :lmao:

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

LOL I hate internet. So I spent most of Thurs & Fri screwing around w/ it, then they tell me to disconnect the cable tv branch of the splitter & connect the cable modem directly to the plug in the wall... now I have no cable tv. Then I had to buy a 25' ethernet cord so at least i have internet , but the wireless is hosed up now.

Anyway... it also seems I lost my little notebook that I keep track of my training in, so I' gotta go off the top of my head right now..

15 April 2006 (Sat)

Diet: Again w/ the screwy sleeping times..
Meal 1: 12 pm
1 whole egg + 7 egg whites
1/2 grapefruit

4 oz chicken
1 c green beans

* train *

Meal 3: 8 pm
2 scoops Bev Int' Muscle Provider + 1 thingy of Capri Sun juice box stuff + water

Meal 4: 10 pm
5 oz chicken
2 c green beans

Meal 4:12:20 am
1 handful almonds

Training: Chest & Bis
Warmup: 5 min treadmill
Giant:
- walking lunges: 20/50 x 2
- step ups: 25/20 x 2
- 45 degree hyper: 25/15 x 2
incline bar press: bar/20 x 2 (warmup)
Giant (chest) x 3:
- Db incline press: 40/12 x 2 45/8 + 35/5
- Hammer strength seated incline press: 35/12 x 3
- cable x-ver: 20/12 x 3
Giant (bis) x 3:
- Ez curl: 50/12 60/8 40/5+5+5 (forearms started to ache so moved to lighter weigth on the 60)
- Hammer curls "run the rack": 25/5 + 20/5 + 15/5 + 10/5 + 5/10 x 3
- Hi cable bis: 20/12 x 2 20/10+15/10+10/10+ 5/10 (4TUT)

20 min elliptical (then got booted out of the gym)

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Why did you get booted out of the gym sassy?

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

They close at 8 pm Friday, Sat & Sun. Obviously not a hardcore training facility...

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Ahh... I was waiting for a wild story....Like the time I went to a new gym because mine was closed. I was doing some shrugs and the weight hit the pins hard. The owner came out and said for me not to do that as it might hurt the equipment. (Add smartass comment from short little powerlifter) and Viola'......Kicked the hell out.

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Naw - this is a really nice World Gym - they just have crappy hours. Also I'm not a morning person -- I guess I woudlnt' have that problem if I trained at 5 am....

Re: Sassy: July 2006 - 41 & BB Bound

Xport Fitness.. no matter how bitchy the employes... and the pressure that I have to look somewhat decent when I go there.. MEAN evil bitchy girl looks... still... you cant beat 24 hours-365 days a year... yes even Xmas... and new year... and the equipment is just out of this world.

I miss my home gym ... the one at school is so GHETTO! :p

Sassy, how definite are you on your July 22-23rd show? IP and I (and a few others...I THINK) are considering touring the Northeast between Treilin's and your show, ending our tour at your show.

My "Plans" are definite, however I"m job hunting right now and looking out of state. I can't guarantee 100% that I will be there. That's just the way it is for me -- I plan to be there unless I have a juicy job offer.

Nothing I'd love more than ma homies in the audience.... :)

Yesterday I was just too beat to do anything except sleep, so it was a wash as far as training, though diet was tight.

Shit.

Giant: (hams) - discontinued after 1 cycle
- Smith SLDLs: 25/12 35/1 -- aborted because the left side of the bar kept getting jammed & jacked my back real nice
- seated leg curl: 120/12
- 90 degree reverse hyper: 15 + 5 pulse
Giant: (quads)
- 1 leg hack: 25/12 x 3

leg ext alternating: 55/8 x 2, 40/8 x 2, 25/10 x 2, 10/20 x 2 -- hold 4TUT, burnout
leg press (narrow stance): 45^4/12 x 3
hack (2 leg): 115/20 x 2

After that just cut it short as I was getting light-headed. Tomorrow I'll do hams.
