Apple triumphs over Samsung, awarded over $1 billion damages | Reuters
I'd like to believe that this will end the charade and side show. Alas, it won't.

This ruling won't change anything in the near term. Or likely in the far term.fuck I knew I should have bought that nexus three when I had the chance....my s II has been a good phone
I sense a DoJ anti-trust lawsuit in Apples future; Win the battle and lose the war.

I hope something prevents a monopoly situation.

It's hardly a trust when you only have 30% of the market.
This is a great eflirt! Nope. Back in town.Ender you still out of town?
I hope so.This will be appealed by Samsung and if they can they will do it on a individual basis per patent. They got off lucky their galaxy tablet got thefree and clear. To be honest I'm a huge tech nerd and admitted app, I phone nd I pad owner but even with apple owning 30% of the market space this ruling is just going to force the tech companies to come out with newer unique and possibly more innovative products.

HTC did some GREAT things back in the 90s when it was helping Palm and HP / Compaq.
The DoJ won't care.
Anti-trust law is bullshit; The fact only one company can offer a product with a GUI people prefer is enough to trigger a lawsuit especially after the competitors decide which politicians to support. The FTC considered going after downtown Detroit auto dealerships on the grounds of restriction of trade for closing at 5:00 PM during the winter, it's their off season. They thought a 9:00 PM closing time was optimal.
The rest of the market apparently has "copied" the owner of the 30% of the market, so...yes...it could possibly be a monopoly if this plays out into Apple's hands. They're smart enough to avoid that though. This patent only applies to this, this only applies to this, etc...They'll pick and choose their lawsuits based on this precedent to avoid an antitrust suit. They'll play it as close to the line as possible....
The market will bear what the market will bear. They def did what we could see is a switch to the high walled garden like apple for all tech companies. Microsoft is doing it with windows 8 I can see more companies following the tend of limiting open source from now on.

Well I will tell you what, I will bet you any amount of money you can afford don does not go after someone with a minority share of he market claiming a monopoly. Seriously, that is just stupid.
