I have avoided contact with a guy because I was scared of getting to caught up. Its possible!

Abuse victims are often scared,untrusting of others and fearful of being in the same situation. Although she may have known you were EXTREMELY opposite from her previous boyfriend she could still worry about you turning into what her ex was.

I'm not saying that you do or do not know this but, what if he was "normal" at the beggining and later turned into the abusive person she told you about? She could be scared because of what she experienced from in her past relationship.
