I don't remember the part of forgetting the rest of the story. You may think me an idealist. That is fine. In the real world, I would not want to be with a women who was supposedly in love with me but chose to sleep with another man for me.

I was one of the first to reply to this thread because I found it to be interesting. My husband (interestingly enough) answered the same way that I did. So that is good FOR US.

I refused to answer because I found the question to be extremely uninteresting, judging people on some subjective relative morality scale is absurd. All four characters are flawed. The sherrif is corrupt and accepts sexual favors to circumvent justice. Robin and John are, first of all, thieves who deserve imprisonment under the penal code of their time. Robin was a bastard for rejecting Marian's supposed sacrifice. John was a bastard for taking advantage of the situation and for taking his friend's ex-GF. Marian whored herself out to circumvent justice and thereby contributed to the corruption of a public official.

Ranking them is silly.
