We do rev. grip 3 board presses for reps as a tricep builder. I have done these with either 315 or 365, I honestly cannot remember, for like 10 reps for 3 or 4 sets, and have benched 500 with a shirt in a meet and 525 with a shirt in the gym.
Rev. Grip is not at all a pec movement. Bench press is not even really a pec movement if you are trying to push big numbers, but that is a topic for another thread.
To answer the thread starters question, rev grip bench is used to build up the triceps. It is hard on the wrists, which is why I only do it to a 3 board.
