Recommend Me Some Tunes

Slackers (best album is "better late than never") - No heard. Will look into it.

Tom Waits - Tolerable to a point. Good songwriter for the most part.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - Guilty pleasure.

Beastie Boys (anything) - Last two, not so good. Everything before that is decent.

Johnny Cash - No one under the age of 40 actually likes Johnny Cash. They just say they do to because music critics told them they'd lose cool points if they didn't. I will admit that Folsom is essential.

NOFX/Rancid (punk) - NOFX has their moments. Rancid has no moments. I hate that band with a passion.

Transplants - Negative.

Joe Satriani - I've answered this one.

Queens of the Stone Age - "

If you like RAP:

Tupac - Most Tupac is good but he's not the untouchable golden child of rap that most make him out to be.

Outkast - Andre's shit is good.

DRE (2001 is good) - Good beats, horrible wordsmith. Guess that's why he needs a ghostwriter.

Eminem (Eminem show or Marshal Mathers LP) - His first one is great, everything after that not so much.

If you like Dance:

Captain Jack - No heard but I think I'll be taking a pass on this.

Paul Oakenfeld - Good in spots. Popular electronica gets real boring real quick.

So on the Ska show, do you play any Catch-22 or Folly? That's about the only ska that I can stand. I'm in the Propagandhi Ska Sucks boat.

I have to say that most newer ska sucks ass. They're all just carbon copies of the same bad music. I prefer older stuff for the most part (1960s - 1985). Catch-22 has some ok stuff. In my experience you don't have to like ska to like the Slackers. I'm 29 and I love Johnny Cash...fuck music critics, I just go by what I like. Oh...and with Tom Waits, you just have to find the gems.

I can stand Operation Ivy but I can't get into Rancid. Go figure.

I like a few Waits albums but I really have to be in the mood for it and if I'm in that mood I seem to put something on instead like Idaho or likeminded sadcore.

Eh, you're at the age of reason for Cash though. You've lived enough life to get at his message. I went to a party and this sixteen year old girl was telling me how Cash was all over her playlists. I was like, "No. No no no no. No. No no. NO."

:lmao:

Yeah...thats a whole different thing...

The Bled - Guilty Pleasure. Their older shit was better.
Acceptance - My g/f owns this.
A Static Lullaby - I love their first album but the second one? Eh, not so much.
Story of the Year - I hate these dudes' music with a passion.
The Used - See above.
The Beloved - You mean...Beloved? Awesome band, too bad they broke up.
Atreyu - First EP is a guilty pleasure thing. Everything after that has been tolerable to terrible.
Incubus - Aqueous Transmission, cool song. Redefine, cool song. Everything else? Not cool songs.

Dream Theater -Awake album
Pantera - Cowboys from Hell, and Vulger Display of Power
Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots
Black Label Society - Hangover Music Vol. VI
Collective Soul - First 2 cd's
Skidrow - Slave to teh Grind
NIN - Pretty Hate Machine
Ozzy - No More Tears
Tool - Undertow
Velvet Revolver - only one album?

And for just random listening:
Andy Timmons - Anything from him
Eric Johnson - A Via Musicom
Metallica - And Justice For All
Dream Theater - All of their albums
Bucket Head - Giant Robot

I've never been into Dream Theater. Great musicians but they sound so sterile.

Pantera is good. I like all their stuff except the hair metal shit. I even like Reinventing. Imagine that.

Sepultura's best album is Chaos AD. Everything worked so well. Roots is a little too nu metal.

Not a fan of the BLS.

Collective Soul. I haven't heard that name in years. I actually own the big one.

Skidrow. Wow. Old school to the max duder.

Ozzy is hit or miss. I like I just Want You a ton though.

Tool is good. Their fans make it hard to like them though.

No on the Velvet Revolver. I might break down one day and check them out on a rainy day.

No heard Andy Timmons. Will check out.

Eric Johnson's guitar tone and playing is flawless. Manhattan, so good.

Like I said, Metallica: first four are classic. Everything is just so...ugh.

I like Bucket Head. Machete is his finest moment.
