Hello:
My gf is recently back at the gym after some time off she is now with a trainer and he is really kicking her but. She put on 4lbs last week there is no way she gained any muscle weight in 1 week, haven't been eating any more or less... what do they think caused it, has anyone else had this same experience, and what should she do to correct it?
Thanks!

Has she changed anything about her diet? Is she bloated from her menses?
Is she snacking?
If her diet is good, I'd say to drink lots of water in case is water retention.

Diet is good. She never gains from menses.
No snaking.
How could it be from water?

I'm not sure I agree that anything needs "correcting". Four pounds is a tiny gain in itself. It might prove to be an issue if it is the start of a trend of unwanted weightgain.

To answer the other question, she may be retaining water because she's not drinking enough water. Yes that happens. It is often the case with women. If her urine is coming any color other than very light yellow, then she's dehydrated to some extent. Ideally it should look almost like water, but with the slightest yellow tinge. Usually somewhere between about 64 and 90oz of water daily is required to fully hydrate, but the urine is really the best measure.

I know when I don't drink enough water, mine is a VERY bright yellow.
Almost clear when I drink lots of water.

I get bloated when I don't drink enough water. Water retention. Could very easily be that. Does she weigh herself daily or weekly?

Reminds me of one of the girl's in my gym who was taking salt pills since she "heard" it would make her drop a ton of weight(bangs head on wall when I heard that) She blew up like the Michelin Man....

Yep, ask her what her water intake is per day---Pure water-no additivies to it!

She lost the weight it was water in the muscles from tearing them, she is fine now. In four weeks she has droped 2.5% bf.
