RyanH, you would make a good cult member. Your zeal with which you chase your convictions is unmatched (at least your arguing). The worst error you commit is not giving creedance to logic on the other side or at least considering it. Cult members don't like to think that something could be wrong or that their view might need to be modified. I think you might need to modify your views ( don't hit me with something like "what if Frederick Douglas modified his views"). I do believe racial injustice needs to fought against where it is feasable. I think your friend in the store might have fit the profile of a "punk" rather than a "black man"(maybe "black punk"???). AND even if the clerk in the store was watching him for the fact that he was black, what good would it do to confront the clerk? Arguing almost never changes a person's opinions. Then, RyanH, what is the solution to the clerk's heart??? You ain't got the anwers and neither does the legislation! I hope you see that...
First of all if anyone here thinks that JIM CROW is dead than they are in serious denial, or just blind!I am a 36 year old black man and I have been pulled over so many times that I have almost stopped counting.Driving while black is not a crime yet someone said that the police cannot pull you over for no reason and THEY ARE SERIOUSLY WRONG!The police can do what they want until the driver goes to the station and files a complaint on that officer and demands an explanation for why they are being singled out. I kept records on all the times and places that it occured to me and when I went to the desk sargeant and had a sit down they agreed that there is a problem and he called the officer in from duty to discuss the matter!The look on the cops face was one of shock because he couldnt beleive that I had called his bluff and now he was under the microscope.I drive a pretty conservative car a toyota camry and all of my lights work ,I use my indicators,no loud music that could be heard from 50 ft away from my car and I generally mind my own business.To make a long story short I ended up filing a complaint against the officer and it turned out he had been doing this for a while .He was made to attend a sensitivity class and he was not to happy about that!I am not one to raise the race card but the area I live in is a 90% white and we have a home owners association and everything is fine and dandy but I will not be targeted by a cop who feels that I do not belong in a certain area because in his mind I am up to something! I read all the posts on here and It is a little scary to see that some of you think that profiling a person because he or she has baggy pants on or looks like eminmem statistically is a potential thief.Statistics are fine on paper but in the real world you cannot do that and if you do be prepared to pay up and plenty because if you own a store and you tackle a person who you think has stolen something and they resist and your coworkers hog tie him or her only to find that they have not stolen anything then all hell is going to break out,LEGAL HELL FOR THE OWNERS!!! I know that statistically I have a better chance of getting robbed by a black or other minority but I watch my back even in the most upscale area and I will not be caught slipping anywhere end of discussion.I have a concealed weapons permit and carry a semi auto with me and I hope I never have to use it on anyone WHITE OR BLACK BUT I will protect myself from the perp no matter what shade his or her skin color is.I have been followed in the mall and one time I was disrespected so badly and verbally abused that I went to the mall manager and we both walked to the store and had a long talk with the store manager and with their corporate manager via phone to see what the problem was.I do not look for trouble but if you think this black man is going to take crap from anyone then you are mistaken.I will call a lawyer and hurt them in their pockets and they do not want that at all.I dont go looking to bait the police or store employees on but I choose to ignore them and when I feel I need help in a department then I will seek their services.Anyone who has had a problem with stores ,police, or just in general will tell you that the one bad experience you have will stay with you forever and forever is a long time in my book.I see that many white families are having problems with their teenagers listening to rap and dressing the roll so to speak.In their minds they are saying I did not raise my kids this way but the kid has gone with the fad and mommy and daddy are buying the $150 sneakers and jeans and the pounding sound systems for their cars and now what they moved away from in the LIBERTY CITIES all across america has now walked into their family room and is looking them right in the EYE!!! YOU CANNOT DENY THAT!!Next th kids start to bring home their minority friends and do they blame the new friend for influencing the son or daughter?? One step further mommys little girl is now dating a black youth and all hell has broke out because their worst nightmare has occured!! This topic on RACE MAY BE OLD TO SOME BUT IT TAKES CERTAIN SITUATIONS TO BRING OUT THE TRUE FEELINGS IN MANY OF US AND IF ITS FAMILY THEN IT HITS ALL THE WAY HOME. I hope I did not bore you but I have enlightened some or even one person here.I would like to think that the person spotting me at the gym is not a card carrying KLAN MEMBER but some would say that the klan now wears a three piece suit?? JUDGE ME BY MY CHARACTER AND NOT THE COLOR OF MY SKIN AND WE WILL HAVE NO PROBLEMS.........
The same thing happened to my friend and I once. This redneck fucker owned a convenience store and always watched my friend because he was black. At first my friend got pissed, then we went in there and while he was watching my friend, I stole everything I could. Fucking racist.
