i was just wanting to ask all of you guys that wear denim bench shirts a couple of questions...first how long do you think it would take me to get use to wearing a denim shirt vs. a poly one...weeks,months??...and how should i get use to it...wear it every bench workout...or like every other one...or just at the end or what??...on my poly shirt that i just got it only took me a couple of days at the most to get use to it...but it is only a single ply poly.....and do most of you use baby powder to get denim shirts on...i dont use any to get my poly on and it isnt to bad...but a denim has to hurt like hell without any...anyways i think that is about all i want to know at the moment...thanks for any help!!

wus up dude, well i'm no expert on denim but it will take some getting used to.i've got both, double poly and double denim. i don't use powder for the denim cause it has the velcro and you just slip it on.the double poly i use powder cause it's tight as shit!as for getting used to it,my brother powerlifterjay can clear all that up for you ,he's the freakin' master at denim, also 1-dawg has mastered denim.i'm still working at it.once you get used to denim ,poly can not compare.i'll tell you one thing don't waste your monet on a denim without gettin' the velcro added,it will be a mother fucker to get on.it will depend on you how quick you learn it.

no problem,i would definately get advice from powerlifterjay and 1 dawg, they would let you in on some tips with denim that would blow your mind.let me know how it works for ya,man.

Denim is generally for people that are experienced with bench shirts. The polys are the most popular. If you can push some decent numbers and have very strong lock outs the double radical denim is the way to go.

I have gotten into extremely tight shirts and NEVER used powder. Using baby powder can be counter productive and 99% of the lifters do not need to and should not use it. You don't want the shirt to slide on your skin when you have it on. I only recommend using powder on crazy tight shirts and not what Jo Schmuck calls crazy, I mean stupid small shirts that you should not even be wearing. And like the Mann said don't even think about getting a double denim without velcro. If you have a double denim with velcro that is so tight you need powder it is going to take 700 to touch your chest. I have put on denims within a minute that take nearly 500 to touch. I have also gotten into single ply polys that I thought were going to kill me without powder. But then again I am not all sticky/sweaty and the ladies keep me flexible :p

When you are ready for a double denim you are ready. I was comfortable with mine the first time I wore it, but many people have baught them and were just not strong enough to use them. Good luck.

Well my 2 cents on denim are. When ordering your first denim you really cant go stupid tigh tlike i do. In fact if you cant lockout 600plus foregt my shirt. Order one inch too small (relaxed everywhere except arms get those exact maybe a little small. I bench on Monday and do heavy tris again on thurs, boards , floors, etc. This would be the day you get used to the shirt. But once you get used to it try wearing for your last couple sets on your bench day, for about 4 weeks before the meet. But i really dont have much on how to use it, just remeber one thing, stay in your groove with it. It will feel like it wants to just stop about an inch or so from th ebottom, then it will sway front and back if your not careful. Just keep i tin your groove. Work your lockouts and then just like that your tris and denim meet down the middle and your a team. You might laugh at that, but i swear to god i was thinking that abut my denim. That each one i have does different things for me. And with out them i cant do certain things. You become a team. And maybe when you feel that way you then can call your self a master of denim! Alright i am going a little overboard but yo uget the idea.

Got a free hand-me-down Inzer double denim. Birthday present. it doesn't fit tight, I can get it on almost by myself. No way I can even come close to getting it off though. Don't know if I will get to use it, I lift alone and it would suck to drive to work in that thing:)

Mine is probably way too lose...would love to try it though. Would probably take a good bit of weight just to touch my chest. I have paused 421.5 with a 2" bar last semester. Haven't gone really heavy in a while though...getting ready for my strongman contest soon and been doing West side to help me.

And give away who I am? No way!!! I will be getting some good mag coverage after the contest though...:)

I'm just a little guy.

Notice you are from Arkansas?

Did you go to the one in Balk Knob or did they cancel it?

I didn't get a chance to go to the one in Bald Knob. I was going to do the competition in Kirksville, MS, but I didn't prep for it like I should've, so I've decided to just do some pure powerlifting w/ my buddy BuffArkie and put strongman off until next year. If you don't mind my asking, how long have you been doing strongman?
