Is there any way to temporarily get your blood pressure down when on a cycle. I'm in the middle of a pretty heavy cycle, but have a level 1 police test in a week, and they will be checking blood pressure to ensure that I am healthy

Unless they have a leg cuff then they wont be able to fit it over my arm anyway.....I guess we'll just have to go drinking the night before then, invite your crazies along

If you are applying to metro toronto for a job i am going to shit myself....cause so am I:)

HAHAHAHAHA....AND...I have the exact same problem.

Last week I actually had to lower my BP to optimum levels for a physique related exam also. This is the basics of what I found that could in all likelihood help out; take a optimum levels of these minerals Ca/K/Mg, avoid sodium intake nearing the test, take in mod dose (2 servings) of alcohol, get lots of sleep the day before, high doses of fish oil (omega-3 fatty acids) are disposed to lowering blood pressure short-term for some people and exercise (obviously). Additionally you can even try using beta-blockers which slow down your heart rate and lower BP, but that would presumably not be needed.

try this experiment.... go to the drug store (unless you have your own meter) and take your BP. then go and do a hard cardio workout... then go back and check your BP. it **ought** to be lower for a few hours after a decent run, but no guarantee.

cardio, aside from lowering your BP in general in the long term, also makes your BP substantially lower for a brief (hours) period.

this makes physiologic sense, i have observed it in my own body, and this is the advice i've heard some government docs giving certain other government "workers" who have high BP so they don't get disqualified from their job, which is in high demand in these last few weeks...

oh...duh.... sorry..... the point of my response was that if your BP goes down for a short while after a cardio workout, then go running the morning of your exam, as close to the exam time as possible.... and no leaping into cold showers or doing anything stressful between the running and the test.

The stuff works great for me! Only ONE week away though??? I'm not sure. This stuff takes a little time to kick in.

What is your BP right now? If you're that desperate and feel that you will NOT clear the BP test, I suggest a quick round of prescription BP meds and/or diuretics (Lasix).

NS: you KNOW I usually give conservative advice, BUT I know you would take that advice with common sense and caution unlike MOST who would grab a bottle of prescription meds, get ill and and DIE! LOL........good luck on your test.

Or......if you want to go the OTC route, you could take a big dose of Kava Kava, Valerian Root, and/or Skull Cap the morning of the test. You may be a little tired, BUT this WILL lower your BP.

PS: My feelings are hurt that you didn't bring this up on OUR board.

LOL...............j/k............................peace bro.
