Hi guys,

I've been reading this diet forum for awhile and it looks like the concensus is to eat a lot of protein whether you're cutting or bulking. I'm not a body builder or anything. If anything, i'm a regular guy who lifts 4-5 days a week. I don't have the metabolism or muscles to support the massive calories or protein people eat.

I'm currently trying to lose some weight. I stand 5'5 226lbs at the moment. Lost 5 pounds last week from cleaning up my food intake. I don't know what my body fat is, but I did some quick calculation and my BMR is 2121.4 and TDEE3288(whatever TDEE means)

Since I'm trying to lose weight do I still need to eat the amount of protein everyone is eating? I see people posting reports about eating 300-400g of protein a day. Is this necesarry for me?

I do lift and do small cardio everyday. My lifts are pretty much powerlifting type lifts: bench, overhead press, squats, deadlifts and random arms/shoulder lifts. I do about 30-45 minutes of fast walking cardio each day.

Is the massive amount of protein required ot keep muscles while cutting? I have gotten weaker since I lost the pounds.I think it's because I might have lost some muscle during the weight cut.
