Pre-Workout Carbs

Good question, I used to always have oatmeal an hour before training but I was told that they would not be fully digested by the time I trained, thus not giving me the extra eneregy I was looking for
 
I usually eat sweet or white potato with 6oz chicken breast 3hrs before i start the workout, half an hour before workout i mix 25g potato powder with my pre workout drink.
100g dextrose before workout is stupid, you're gonna get a massive insulin spike then crash half way through the workout, get some maltodextrin and take 30g half hr before workout..
 
I try not to eat within 1.5 hours of my workout unless I am using carbolyne. I also use preworkout drink for energy 30 min before WO.
 
I usually have a decent meal like Pasta or something a few hours before I know i'm going to be working out. Carbs keep you going through the hard stuff and you can feel pretty fantastic if you've got your timing right, feels like you never need to stop.
 
Oh and don't forget to take your Gear pre and post workout!
 
That is what I have been doing basically my entire life. My pre-workout meal is about an hour to an hour and a half before workout.. and it contains whey protein, slow digesting carbs, and healthy fat. Then post workout is just whey and fast acting carbs.

But I watch all these videos of people like Jay Cutler, and Phil Heath and they are taking things like dextrose before, during, and after workout.
 
I have this every morning immediately after waking, an hour before my workout.

1 scoop ON vanilla ice cream whey gold standard.
1 scoop chocolate Muscle Milk.
1/2 cup oats
1 large banana
5 gr creatine

Blended with 8 oz water and ice.

I have great energy, intensity, and get a killer pump. My workouts are going better than ever.

That's almost exactly what I would have:

2 Scoops whey
1/2 cup oats
1 banana
1 tbl spoon oil

Then I would take 5 grams creatine and 5 grams of arginine with that, a little more than an hour before workout.
