Bodybuilders end up gay cuz they spend so much time looking at muscle that that's all they appreciate, that's what the elite women are for!!!

what are you going to do when you stop working out?? all your muscle becomes fat...

i dont need to train legs, ________(insert activity ie..soccer, walking, being fat) works my legs hard enough...they are already so strong

i dont want to look like a pro bodybuilder, thats too big..eww....HEY YOU COULD NEVER LOOK LIKE THAT ANYWAYS YOU UNGIFTED GENETIC MESS

I also hate the "I'm afraid that i might gain too much muscle. I don't want to be a freak". Only stupid dumbfucks says that, and they're always small!

I have some older relatives (in their 60's) who live in a resort area. They told me about some "trainer" there who is really expensive. All the rich old people are lining up to "train" with him because he uses "special machines" that are supposedly unlike anything else (and so obviously must be better because this guy charges so much). Well, the people I've seen who've been to him don't look like they've trained anything at all, to tell the truth.

Why is it people want to pay a wad of money to do something new and different rather than do the basic tried and true stuff that's proven?! (Hell, most of them never stick with it long enough anyway.) Hard work is free and the results are guaranteed!!!

"Will it make me bulky? I don't wanna look like those bodybuilder women." (My sister, when I recommend she does some resistance exercise like pushups, lunges and unweighted squats to tone muscle and add some variety to her exercise program)

I guess not all of those are "myths" but oh well.

i like

liting weights will make u run slower
the more u lift the better (lifting 7 days a week)
machines are as good as free weights
for girls- lifting will make me big and bulky

I'm embarassed to say I actually used to believe this.....my only excuse is I was young and thought I was smarter than I am :)

People mention this all the time, and if you really think about it theres nothing wrong, I also don't want to get freaky huge, Its not like I have to worry about it, but I'm just saying if I had the choice to instantly be I wouldn't choose it.

Theres a difference in simply stating you wouldn't want to be that big.

I woudln't want to be ethopien skinny, I doulbt I could get that way before I caved in and started eating, still the fact is still If I had the choice (which I don't) I wouldn't want it.

Its not like the I wouldn't want a million dollars thing, BS you don't.

I mean I also wouldn't want to be 7ft (I'm 6"3) I'm not saying it because I can't and I'm making an excuse, I'm saying it because I'm tall enough its not like basketballs my dig.

So don't chastise people because they don't want to be that big, only if there refraining from doing something simply because they think they will end up that big.

That is not a myth. It is very well documented fact. Guys with larger bones tend to have larger muscles. Wrist size is an easy method to determine your bone size.

Ofcourse addimg 10 inches to wrist size is just an approximation (I forgot the exact formula). But it is true for MOST PEOPLE! Unless you are geneticly gifted (in arm department) or use steroids, your wrist size determins your muscle size.

PERIOD! All Flex Wheelers can disregard this fact, for the rest of us there is badminton.... : :):
 
That "10 inch wrist" thing is taken totally out of context.

there is a guide to geting a classic physique like steeve reeves and olde time body builders.

they had a list of measurements to get the ideal look.
 
if it hasn't already been mentioned: "pullups make your lats wider and chins make your lats thicker".......what bullshit!
 
I'd like to say i am shocked and impressed with this thread.

If so many of you know these are myths, why do a lot of you preach them?!

The all time best is the crap about isolating upper chest.
 
I'm sorry, but some supplements are worth having. I take a post workout weightgainer type of thing...I believe it's made a difference.

Please explain the following two, as they are not obvious myths:

1. "Cardio in the morning on an empty stomach is the best time to do it" - I believe most people believe that

2. "All extra protein turns into fat" - isn't extra protein not used like any other extra calories? Excess calories would cause fat?
 
Haha Robboe. I don't want to get into again but basically it's no more effective than cardio done at other times and it's more likely that muscle will be burned during it (because of the liver breaking down muscle to get it's glucose). I've made a shitload of posts on this, you could prolly dig em up with a search.

About the protein, if the extra protein caused an excess of calories, yes. But, just eating more than used for repair will not just turn into fat. Protein can be converted to carbs as well, and used as energy. Only if:

Calorie requirements
Carb requirements
Repair requirements

...are met will it be stored as fat. So, in order for protein to be stored as fat you'd need to be bulking with a surplus of carbs and eating more than 1g/pound.
 
1. Flatbench is the best excersise for chest :) Going out to you Sysopt!!!!

2. Doing gear means you have to work out less!!!!! BBWWAaaahahahahahahahahaha

Here's one I heard for the first time just a few weeks ago: "when you do really, really slow reps, say a negative of 20 seconds or more, the burning you feel is your body burning lots of extra calories! So if you do all your reps super, super slow you'll lose weight faster!"

I agree with dips [or decline press] but not with inclines.

You are going to ruin your body by lifting weights.

freeweights are for getting to your goal and machines keep you there lol

high reps will get me cut without adding alot of muscle(my friend said this to me last nite) i politely corrected him

really..... sorry bro but I am a natty and got that by over two inches beat already and know many many other nattys that do also and by a lot more than me

I also like" I am training 4 times a week for 45 minutes and have been doing so for the last three weeks and still no results do you think I am overtraining.

I need to bring my bench up for football.

its not healthy to eat that many times a day you should have your basic three meals a day.....(sorry mom had to say it)

girls dont like big shoulders and traps they like abs and arms.

someone telling me to go get my manager at the night club I work at because I am just a stupid bouncer and they will take it up with my boss. I love responding I am the manager.

military presses are bad for your shoulder joints you should just do lateral raises they will get just as big
