how does this sound for a PWO shake, 40g protein,60g dextrose,5g glutamine

is this sufficient for a PWO shake?

Not knowing your goals or stats, I would say drop the dextrose to 40grams, that should be fine for PW.

- But, I remember reading Glutamine was useless unless taken 10+ grams at a time... I need to research that though.
 
I'd start with a quater of your bodyweight if bulking....and see how it does. In other words, if you weigh 200 lbs., then 50 gr. should suffice.

By your numbers you would weigh 240 lbs.?

What's your weight/bodyfat and goals? If we knew that we could better recommend what your shake should be.

As for the glutamine, some studies suggest that a large amount of oral L-glutamine is used by the gut, being either oxidized or converted to glucose, never leading to significant increases in plasma glutamine concentration. Even when increases in plasma levels are seen, it is debatable whether that directly leads to increased protein synthesis and. All that being said, it doesn't hurt to take it if you have it (and it might help - some people seem to think it does), but I would say up it to 10g.

If you have glutamine peptides, that's a somewhat different story. They're most expensive and supposedly don't have the same problems as L-glutamine, so I'd say stick with 5g of that.

Dumb answer Mr.HARDCORE DIET...what if he's 250lbs.............don't reccomend anything without his stats......u should know that
 
i weigh 190. and im cutting at the moment so all my carbs are taken either at breakfast,pre and post workkout.

Meaning this is something that is not in conjunction with stats being posted. Obviously, you have a reading problem.

Btw...most people, I would guess around 60-70%, that visit our diet forum (males) are from 170-205 lbs. That's the average I've seen over the years.

Perfect :) my statement stands: 40g protein, 40g dextrose, but I would bump the glutamine to 10-15gr.
 
truly sorry that you feel the need to bomb me...I read what you said and it was mis-guided information...plain and simple.
