pin press

How to pin press

Hey there,

The way you do it is to drag a flat bench into the power rack, and set the olympic bar directly onto to catch bars (pins) to where you are only pressing the last 4 to 8 inches of the bench rep. Don't ever lockout more than 8 inches of the press. I would never suggest setting the rack anywhere near the bottom half of the press. This is an exercise that strengthens your triceps and lockout strength. It is not designed to strengthen the bottom part of the press. That is what lats and denim bench shirts are for.

You might try dumb-bell benches, ensuring that you go deep. Or you could use a cambered bar or a very wide grip. as well as that, as suggested by brianmincher, get some thick lats and learn how to use em (I'm still trying to figure this one out!!).
